Black Metal's A Laugh!

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

That geezer from Korn had a pretty cool microphone stand tho didn't he? Or is that not black metal? What about Blue Oyster Cult's Don't Fear The Reaper? Ok. I'll go and sit in the corner sipping my half of mild and knocking at fives and threes.
And you know that she's half crazy but that's why you want to be there.

I have actually got this picture as a poster up in my flat as it's quite funny and cheers me up to look at it. BUT Immortal are one of my favourite live bands they were superb. Black metal has been infiltrated by alot of wishy washy bands who are genuinely quite rubbish, but alot of the decent bands are really worth listening to. Has anyone heard Emperor's "In the Nightside Eclipse" or Mayhem's "De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas"? sheer class :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy:

Really like Immortal. Not only for their music, but also for their attitude.
IMHO, they were the only leading BM band that got away with a satirical view on the genre.
Take the poster as an example. They loved to mock the scene. I once saw them live with three fans (ventilators ;D ) placed at the front of the stage just to make the band members' hair flutter. That looked more evil. But they all stood there smiling.
And have you ever seen the videoclip they made where they were all throwing snowballs at each other, laughing like little kids, but fully painted and spiked and leathered up? Hilarious.

Immortal is great. I love bands taking themselves serious :-)

Yes they had those when I saw them they looked great. Abbath even did some firebreathing which was excellent except it was a very small venue (Camden Underworld) and I could feel my eyelashes singeing. Haven't seen the snowball fight video though.
Well said IZ :notworthy:

Korn isn't all bad, but I lost interest after 'Life is Peachy' and they have become very commercial since, not that they weren't commercial before, but even more so. I should try to find a picture of that mic stand. Giger has done interesting stuff, so I wonder what it would look like.

yeah, i'll acknowledge that at least they have taken the song and done it in their own (bloody awful) style ;)

thats preferable to them doing do what most other bands do when they cover a sisters song where they end up sounding like a poor man's merry thoughts...
