An Act Of God

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

Left work as normal and boarded my usual train home to Peterborough. All on time and I'm looking forward to the weekend until ...

ZAP! POW! A bolt of lightning south of Huntingdon strikes the overhead powerlines and takes out the whole east coast mainline.

I should have walked through my front door at 18.50. I walked through at 22.10. I was chatting to a student going back to Leeds for her parents anniversary party. Dad was picking her up at 20.30. Now Dad wasn't even drinking at his own party as he was picking her up at midnight from Leeds station as home was Harrogate. :| (Yes, she was posh PRWY tottie. )

I know for a fact there were trains to Newcastle and even Glasgow stacked up behind me.

The horror, the horror ... :urff:

Well, that's my friday night well and truely fucked. Along with a few thousand others ...

Thank you God.

I'm trying but it's not working. I'm starving but can't be arsed to cook. Everything's tilted. :urff:

And as for those poor Glasgow-bound people who'll end up at Central station at 3am and encounter a kebab laden Mr Blast doesn't bear thinking about. :urff:

* shudder *

Aaah, clever. Trying to get some Scandinavian input.

But presumably they have trains that work in all weathers, whatever the conditions ... :von:

I blame St. Swithin. Break out the cigs and Stella, John, and we'll kick back to the Hoople. Drivin' Sister. Always preferred side 2 meself.
And you know that she's half crazy but that's why you want to be there.

Done. 8)

Wouldn't you just love someone to volunteer to upload Mott The Hoople, battered official tape, live Hamersmith and Broadway (NYC) 1972 to CDr. :innocent:

Each to their own. As always.

Fair comment but on any Sisters album (for those of us old enough to remember vinyl) side two was always the best. That's the second half of the CD for you youngsters. :von:

It rained here on St. Swithin's day. That means 40 more days of rain. Don't you know your myths and legends?

Or you could get your arse down to HMv and pick up the 30th anniversary edition for under a tenner if you weren't such a southern cheapskate.

Mr Hunter seems much more at home, lots of friendly banter with the crowd. Always worked for me.

All this quoting mallarky's got the better of me. TFBSZ.

Drivin' Sister isn't on The Hoople, it's on Mott

I was referring to the band rather than the album. Bought the 30th anniversary edition of the live album last week. It's on side two of that. But not on the original one, apparently. I think I'm gonna have to add both Mott and The Hoople to my "Albums I must remember I want next time I'm killing time in HMV" list.

Ahh, your classical education to the fore once again. :notworthy:

You have to remember that I was going down pit by the age of 13 after serving my five year apprenticeship as a chimney-sweep boy. :innocent:
