Well that's my bubble burst quite effectively!

I really should learn not to get too excited when Sister's stuff is released. A box set of the re-issues I already own.... who'd have thought?

 :urff:

Bummer. What makes them think this is going to sell a couple of months after they've been relased separately?

I guess they rather think of the long term sale here. The Sisters are a legend like, let´s say, AC/DC Motörthead, Ramones etc. They will still attract custtomers in five years to buy the reissues at nice price level.

Well who's fecking bright idea was that then?

Let's live in hope that Amazon (or whoever) have screwed up here and that's not really what it is.

Not much hope, though.

This is why buying the reissues as soon as they come out is a bad idea.

Give it a while, you'll find the box set for 99p on eBay after a month or so ;)

Y'know, it just strikes me that buzz hasn't provided a link to this.

Is it a case of one person's prediction being misinterpreted as what it really is here?

I was wondering that too.

OK then, so here's point 2.

Anybody else notice that - according to that link - VT has lost SF (live) and gained More (extended)? And that the track numbers for FALAA are wrong (unless "Disc 1" is an outtake from the sessions that we've never heard of before)?

My discography-fu is not what it could be, but did a "More (extended)" ever even exist? Not "power mix" or "groove mix" or whatever, but just plain old "extended".

If these are mistakes, then surely doesn't it leave open the possibility of other mistakes being also made?

the long version of "more" is the standard album / 12" version :?

there's a "radio edit" that chops all the nonsense at the end (thank the lord!), but thats it afaik. no "extended" one :?

nah, its just play.com

look, they got the individual remastered cd wrong too:

http://www.play.com/Music/CD/PROD/3-/18 ... oduct.html

Vision Thing (Remastered & Expanded)

Vision thing
Ribbons
Detonation boulevard
Something fast
When you don't see me
Doctor jeep
More
I was wrong
You could be the one
More (extended version) :?:
Doctor jeep (extended version)
Ribbons (live)
Something fast (live)

they've got that instead of the remix of "When you don't see me"

Yeh, that's the way I thought it was too. If this is correct, and there is no "extended" version, then how much is play.com's tracklisting to be trusted?

From the link (my emphasis added in bold):
Customers who bought A Merciful Release (3CD) also bought

PJ Harvey - Rid Of Me
Sisters Of Mercy - First And Last And Always (Remastered & Expanded)
Sisters Of Mercy - Floodland (Remastered & Expanded)
Sisters Of Mercy - Vision Thing (Remastered & Expanded)

Solefald - Black For Death: An Icelandic Odyssey Part II
:?: I guess that we can be a trainspotting bunch and pick up multiple copies of the same thing. :innocent:

A few copies of the word THE wouldn't go amiss too. :innocent:

Huh, can't blame 'em, for what's worth. Let's wait, maybe fairly good sales (hardcopies as well as iTunes) might put one company or another into re-thinking about signing the Sisters. Gosh, that sounds naive, I know, but then, is all hope lost?

I for myself will go for the "Floodland"-Reissue only, maybe "FALAA".

Speaking of "fairly good sales", since these things came out 2 months back I've noticed a fairly strange phenomenon down my local HMV.

Despite the almost total lack of promotion or advance notification, they seem to be positively flying out of the shop...

Oh! You just jogged my memory!

My local HMV has BOTH compilations back in stock after not having them for two months :| :urff:

Is there any way of getting sales figures/chart position (if any) for the re-issues?

Well, in the week when Axl Rose announces an actual release date for Chinese Democracy, stranger things could happen.

Although, I'd be very surprised.
