Thanks for this, Spige. I'm glad that I never bothered with Facebook; makes me think that opting-out of MySpaz (to the extent that I can, with Big Brother watching
) is probably a good idea. The notion of going underneath the radar gets more appealing every day...

Yeah, that was quite a read. I'm too entrenched in my Myspace ways to either leave it or join Facebook... and though I don't really care what info The Man has on me personally, I'm against it in principle and I do hate to think I'm lining the pockets of a bunch of Thatcherites/Reaganites...

Ah, well, I use it more and more, re-found some people I'd long lost, which isn't bad! (even though I like how myspace works better, the sh*tload of apps on facebook can be quite annoying) And all the privacy stuff cited in the article, I think you just have to keep in mind every single letter or word you ever entered on the internet can be traced back to you if they want to, or am I just being overly paranoid here?

I got a Facebook account to keep in touch with two friends thousands of miles away as they are like "totally on it the whole time", but it's turned out that I've discovered a lot of my family on there that I don't really know that well so now of course I am in touch with them a lot. BUT I do find those bloody applications really irritating, I just ignore them now. I much prefer MySpace!

) Talking about addons, NoScrpt is a goody as well. Especially for Windoze users.

Seems I'm the lone voice speaking in favour of FB, then. More versatile and less open to abuse than MyArse, with completely blockable applications, the as yet unbeaten photo-tag feature, and the quite reliable event/group management facilities.
Mind you, I don't use my real name or anything else relevant to my humdrum real life, so perhaps I've got the best of both worlds.
