What a difference to the last Hamburg gig in 2006.

Well, lame audience is correct but the band didn´t do anything at all to change it. The sound from Von was horrible, you couldn´t hear him really. He disapeared in the fog when not sinnging. I saw Ben sitting on the left side of the stage when not playing. The only one who seemed to have fun was Chris.

What was wrong with the band? They had a day off yesterday. Everyone was suffering from a hangover? Or are they already tired beeing on the road after only a week?

Furthermore it was dissapointing that they changed the setlist and not played Good Things, Marian etc. Only one surprise (new song in this case) is not enough, at least not for me.

Hope they get back to a higher standard again.

See you in Stockholm.

When the audience is partying (like in Tienen) the stage can be set on fire. You will hardly see it the other way round if there are only people in the audience who expect the Vision Thing or F&L&A be played. Especially when the audience expects those albums in exactly the sound they were recorded in...

Regarding Andrews voice: Romeo Down sounded awful (especially compared to the benchmark: Doomsday 2000 in Dresden) and On the wire sounded bad, too. However, the sound was bad at the back of the venue but pretty good in the mosh pit (my highlight: Lucretia).

I will be in Stockholm as well and I'm really looking forward to it...

Interesting posts ... was this Juergen's first date back as soundman? Complaints about the sound this time seem more numerous than previous 2009 dates to me... I think the dude who did the US dates is a pretty great soundman, Ravey Davey. Bring him back, guys. C'mon...

And could someone post a version of 'Arms' please? It'd be so much appreciated.

TR

PS: I'm so over the Euro fans complaining about the US fans complaining about poor sound, too much fog, and "lip-syncing". The exact same complaints are all over Euroblogs and even here on HL from the Eurofans. The band's clearly got some severe problems that cross oceans, but they're still great to see.

Would very much like to hear it, should anyone be kind enough to post, I'm sure there are many here that would be eternally grateful :notworthy:

(Sorry, trying very hard not to grovel, but I do believe that I am failing :innocent: :D)
I have no pride in that respect, so do let me help:

does anyone know why :von: dissappeared early? was in response to the audience or did he just realise he´d left the chip pan on back at the flat!
He can´t have been too hacked off to do the full encores...?

I think the band/crowd debate is a bit pot kettle... The band are doing the same thing almost night after night whereas the crowd are (mostly) fresh souls...

Think football - who's the extra man!?

That's right.

That's most probably right, too. Don't know where you were standing, but from the front row it definitely did looke like a hangover, and even Chris who "seemed to have fun" in fact looked quite a bit disorientated from a short distance. I heard somebody mention that they'd seen the whole band in one of Hamburger pubs the night before, which might explain a lot.

Still, it was a really good gig, and if
Only one surprise (new song in this case) is not enough, at least not for me.
then sorry, I'm afraid that the band is not in the position to help you with this.

Right, emma. If you expect ten new songs each year the Sisters are definetly the wrong band for you.

Speaking for myself I prefer one great song each year to ten crappy songs each year.

after flood 2 i've got a feeling that regular setlist was too short (as they drop out some songs during gig or something) and i thought that there will be no encores  can you imagine?
arms are still too heavy for me but gig wasn't so bad at all. they wasn't in happy-go-lucky mood but it was good sisters.

The new song is called "Arms" indeed and has been written by Chris. Cool guitar riffs on that one. However reminds one pretty much on Killing Joke. 8)
reminds me the same. still a very groovy song :notworthy:

My comments on the gig remain as a stable diet for most of the postings that I have seen from all of you and for a 'rock band' the sound is not loud enough. The sound in Hamburg was louder than that in Amsterdam. Thus on three occasions they suffered from feedback problems. They cannot seem to find a suitable balance. Von's voice cannot take the strain. I was standing left of center in the mosh pit bang under the speaker. However, the lack of input from the crowd was very explainable and that was due to the over zealous security. This gig did not hit the historic low as that of the Astoria that I attended. The new song was a surprise and I must admit that I did not know it. I was glad when still finished. It was pleasant to see some of you there and I look forward to Leeds.

The sound was truly appalling. Far to low. I would have been better off playing one of my bootlegs with my head in a bucket of water. Better atmosphere that way too.

LOUDER I SAY, LOUDER!

Well actually these rumours have been officially denied, so I think after all it's all the audience's fault. :)

Also - now as I think of it, I recall that the entire day was bad.
I woke up somehow very week and tired, don't know why, it's not normal in my case on a day before a first Sisters gig in a while. I should've been excited and full of energy instead. Then I went to the harbour and didn't bother to look at the ships for more than 10 minutes, totally contrary to the plan (OK - it was cold and raining, but in a normal state this shouldn't prevent me). Then I went to the pub in which there was supposed to be a cheerful pre-gig meet-up including lots of excited people from HL - but it turned out to be only about 8 people who hardly ever talked to one another.
And then after the gig I went straight back home feeling exhausted, while I had planned to sit by the river and walk along Reeperbahn.
This whole day was lame, not just the gig. :!: There just must have been something wrong about the weather, and it's not the band's fault.
The weirdest thing was, when I came home I suddenly felt a lot better and spent a couple more hours chatting with my aunt over a bottle of gin. And woke up perfectly fresh the next morning despite very short sleep.
It was a wrong weather front, I tell you. Something evil hanging over the ocean. :von:

But hey, even if the gig lacked the good vibrations, the new song was first played there, and in my opinion it was a better version of it than both following nights. 8)
