and out of curiousity, how many of these four tracks need vocals?
all. thats the point. they're instrumentals... the theory is that andrew likes to go into the studio with already-finished versions of songs - so that he can put his lyrics over the top of finished mixes.
these songs were our attempt at providing the music for mr e. to use...
have the smurphs ever recorded a tribute album? or do they only do live stuff?
only live. they're a giging "tribute" band rather than anything else. i've tried to get paddy to record them before now (epsecially the new stuff) but he mumbled something about copyright, them already walking a fine line, and then ran away
if there is such thing how can one get a hold of it?
just ask him about the sheffield uni video
glad to hear that you're working on getting these tracks uploaded quiffy...

Umm.. Quiffy, my friend, could I ask a favour of you? You wouldn't be able to find out the notes for Driver or Burn It Down would you? Maybe that nice Mr Marx would know? Either way, I need to ask him about Spin The Wheel. Great song.
But should you speak to him before I get the energy to, would you kindly mention the songs? As he would know, even if he doesn't realise Burn It Down is just Burn's demo, and
would probably deny their existance. Mind, it's nigh on impossible to contact him or MR.

to be honest, its been 20+ years since he's even heard those demo songs, never mind played them
drop him an email regarding "spin the wheel" though - he's very sociable

well, it started to get out of our minds........
so its time to give it a final kicking - i will contact all you guys involved just to see how it works. the aim is still to get instrumentals, innovative and curious instrumentals of all 'new' songs and direct them to the right people - and if some of these people will have a smile on their face as long as the cd plays, we have won!
anybody interested in doing come together?
lets make it a christmas present!

Dropped him a line, asking him just in case he does know. My friend would be giving me a nice cracked copy of Cubase, but my computer has nowhere near enough RAM, so I'll be hunting down some freeware. Any hints?
By the way, I can't get my guitar to record onto my computer, so I'll be trying to record onto tape or something. You never know, I could label it "THE DAMAGE DONE ULTRA RARE TAPE DEMO SISTERS OF MERCY GOTH m*****n" on eBay and get some idiot to pay a couple of hundred for it.

would anybody like to work with me on that track - I'm a singer + playing kbds + bass, but I'm not so great on guitar (I'm using ProTools + Reason)

Sorry to bring up such an old thread...but is this still active, even
inter alia? If so, I'd love to take a stab at Come Together. With vocals.
If not, then I'll just go sit in the corner and sing it quietly to myself

Is it active? Not really, but I did get an email from jost7 last week, so he may make an appearance in this thread again.
With vocals?

Whoops. Didn't read the first post clearly enough (and to be far somewhere in the middle of the thread, people were debating whether to add a vocal track). I'm still up for it though

It indeed is an interesting idea. Maybe it will get of the ground this time. Feel free to work on Come Together. Maybe a fresh final version will bring out some of the other versions attemtped so far.

Nah, furthest I've got is a techno version of Louie Louie.
But what annoys me a lot is the fact that I think it's better than any of my original songs that I've done. Bugger. -_-
I'm more likely to do techno versions as they're the easiest. Next up- Driver (or On The Wire/Teachers/On The Wire in case I ever get a gig and it turns out to be at a Heartland meet.

Despite a compilation not getting completed, this thread nevertheless appears in the list of top 50 viewed.

A group of musicians talking about getting some music completed, but never actually doing it..
does this seem familiar to anyone?

Someone posted a version of Summer a while back with a distinct harmonica in it
The Mumbles have recorded We Are The Same, Susanne.
I don't mind doing vocals on anything
