The Cure?
this makes my summer, after not been able to follow the Sisters on the rest of the tour.
Yes, I agree that the Lokerse Feesten-boys are doing a great job this year: The Sisters, The Stooges, The Cure, Patti Smith, ...
I think I' m gonna camp in Lokeren this year! What a summer!!

Yes I know, Lokeren isn't exactly a tropical, mysterious or adventurous place to take yer tent to, but what else can you do...
About hot, belgian summers, I will always remember Dour '97! Not only for the more than fabolous Sisters show, but also for the hottest weather ever!!! It was just great...
So, Lokeren here I come

So, the Belgian HL peeps on the Sisters gig will be:
IZ.
Christophe.
Obviousman.
RadioJamaica.
Anyone else?
And the other HL'ers? Just so I know how much six-packs of drinkable beer I have to smuggle inside...
IZ.

By the way: Just noticed in 'de Morgen' there even is a (small) pic of Von
In an article about 'big bands on small festivals' (together with the guy from the cure, iggy pop and the guy from starsailor) ...
Now when was the last time his picture appeared in a newspaper?
No doubt Lokeren will see
me coming too, by the way
Oh, and I don't drink beer, Izzy, I'll smuggle me some other drinkable liquor inside myself (whiskey or something)

One non Belgian HL coming here!
Oh, by the way, I don't drink beer either, but if there's a chance of getting hold of cider (or simply tab water) I'm fine....

He did play the same festival with the Cure in 1998 (Taubertal, Germany), so why should he cancel this one (as long as nobody declares this one as a Goth-festival)?

True.
And Lokerse Feesten is all BUT a Goff fest.
It is still a 'family festival' which used to be free entrance for a couple of years.
There will be a very 'relaxed' and calm atmosphere. Which is nice for a change

Thanks a lot for the informations, Obviousman! I'm surprised at the reasonable prices for entry. 10 Euros is very kind....

Very kind indeed, it means no-one who is on the continent (and has gone to the Tilburg gig) has any excuses left not to come
It's only £15 or even under, so, get your lazy arses over to Belgium, will you all
EDIT: More like under £7 isn't it

Also in the newsletter I received, it states that the definitive line-ups will be confirmed end of June/begin of July.
Still, 10 euro to see the Sisters... That's at least twenty years ago I paid that less to see them
Not counting the times I did not bother to go and see them.

The bands performing on the 8th august are:
THE SISTERS OF MERCY
VIVE LA FETE
MONZA
...not bad at all, especially as I kinda dig Vive La Fête and was planning to see 'm somewhere this summer... I just found my spot!!!
Monza isn't really my cup of tea, but the leadsinger has a Joy Division-crush, so who knows...
cheerio...

actually I quite like Monza butt you do get tired of them after a few songs.
and I started to dislike the singer after I had to stand behind him at some gig while he wasn't even watching the show
VLF is good, no doubt about it! maybe a bit to energetic for some of us
