I GOT THE EMPIRE!

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

I can keep trying, but I'm up against a worthy adversary. *bows* My dignity won't suffer, I barely had any to begin with.

If we're going to play, let's PLAY

Oh for crying out loud, leave the Russian poetry away.

A nice song about how even if I did have her love, I wouldn't deserve such purity, and then I'd end up killing myself, leaping into the sea.

With that preview out the way, to the tune of A Rock And A Hard Place:

And she came to look for me
Her face glowing with innocence
I took her hand
And told her to follow me down
To the churchyard
In her bangles and her ribbons
We stood outside the church
Under the tower above
She wanted passion
And a place to hide
So I whispered to her
"Let us go inside"

But her pure love was too much for me
I'm lying dead, washed out to sea
Everything I ever did want
I didn't deserve from that angel, oh no

And I didn't have the heart to tell her why
She deserved better, so I kissed her one last time

For cause and effect go hand in hand
The Devil take me, for I don't mind
I'm sorry she'd never quite understand
But I left her sleeping in the church
Will she find me?
I don't think so, no..
Where Dark goes, he goes alone
Now I'm gone
Far away
Far away

And I didn't have the heart to tell her why
She deserved better, so I kissed her one last time

Her pure love was too much for me
I'm lying dead, washed out to sea
Everything I ever did want
I didn't deserve from that angel, oh no

Of course it's clean. I don't post smut in any language.

Better still, it's not by Tatu. Although I'm not above adapting their lyrics to form (in)appropriate chat-up lines when necessary.

@ Dark - nice effort. Not sure it scans entirely correctly though. I'll try it with some music later and check.

Thank god, I don't need the attentions of a couple of pseudo-sapphic schoolgirls now as well... :urff:

When a man has no room in his heart for a pair of stroppy teenage faux-lesbian Russian girls it really is time to give up and go home. Even if one of them really can't sing at all and the other one can barely sing.

Apparently. I'm sure Doctor Johnson would have made the point more eloquently had the opportunity arisen.

It's probably not perfect, but still.. you get the idea. And it's in English too, so everyone can feel mopey.

Oh, THANK you for that!

What happened to Tatu anyway? Was it "just a phase"... :innocent:

I actually got quite indignant about all that, Mary Whitehouse stylee...

Well, one is engaged and the other pregnant so it probably was 'just a phase'.

They started work on a second album but never finished it. I think Eurovision (where they had a decent song but sang it abysmally) effectively ended their career.

I know far too much about this, don't I?

Sicko. Just cause you have fetishes about people who are too good for you doesn't mean I do.

A candy-colored clown they call the sandman
Tiptoes to my room every night
Just to sprinkle stardust and to whisper
Go to sleep. everything is all right.

I close my eyes, then I drift away
Into the magic night. I softly say
A silent prayerlike dreamers do.
Then I fall asleep to dream my dreams of you.

In dreams I walk with you. in dreams I talk to you.
In dreams you’re mine. all of the time we’re together
In dreams, in dreams.

But just before the dawn, I awake and find you gone.
I can’t help it, I can’t help it, if I cry.
I remember that you said goodbye.

It’s too bad that all these things, can only happen in my dreams
Only in dreams in beautiful dreams.

I don't think this song needed any changing, but "The Love Song Of J Alfred Prufrock" will. :innocent:

Not in any way, honest :D

Antwerp is just a much more central place as where we came from, and I don't mind about that :innocent:

To the tune (give or take the odd syllable) of "Say Hello, Wave Goodbye" by the almighty Soft Cell...

Standing in the door of Heartland
Crying in the rain
She was such a beautiful love
And I hope that it might happen again

You and I, our love echoed
Through every single year
We always went around
After love was found
Would it last, I feared

I guessed it might work
You in a velvet skirt
I wore leather and silk
All around me
I yeared you to wear less
My mind was such as mess
So insecure, you see

You put up with all the songs
And this is one more that's going to drift away

Wrap your arms around me
I've always belonged to you, you see
Let me look at your face one more time
I know I love you
I know you love me
Let our sacred love fly

Let our sacred love fly

Under the deep red light
I can feel your touch sliding down
Oh Boudicca, I will always be there
To take away any wandering frowns
What about you?
Well, I'll kiss no-one
If they are not you, my love
With gorgeous skin and eyes
Enriching my whole life
Never going off the rails

Wrap your arms around me
I've always belonged to you, you see
Let me look at your face one more time
I know I love you
I know you love me
Let our sacred love fly

Let our sacred love fly

We've been involved for quite a while now
And being away from you has been hell
We're lovers meeting, for the first time, okay?
Just smile and my heart's your

Let our sacred love fly
Let our sacred love fly

Let our sacred love fly

I'm getting worse at this...

Well I was handsome and I was strong
And I knew the words to every song.
"Did my singing please you?"
"No! The words you sang were wrong!"
