i should also say that i'm not against people not knowing to expect a lot of smoke (btw, i won't even hold it against anyone if they don't know Sisters don't have a drummer and think they just can't see him through the smoke...that's not stupidity, i'm sure a lot of people just go to the concert to see what the band is like, not necessarily being Sisters fans, so how could they know?)...it's just that complaining and bitching about it, instead of trying to cope with it and perhaps see the beauty of it, in short being open to a different kind of performance and not being fixated to one's expectations, is a horrible thing.
That's what i thought ridiculous on Dominion about the guy complaining about the smoke and thus overall performance, not that he didn't expect it or was caught unawares.

Sisters became one of my favorite bands around 1986. I had my expectations too. I tought I knew everything about Sisters too, but they surprised me in three ways: with their sound more hard rock than the Vision Thing era, by the amount of smoke and by playing at least 4 songs I didn't know.

Is being surprised a good thing? For me, yes.

At one point of the show, I decided to love it. Doing so, I became a fan once again. I could "understand" the "vision thing". So, like itnAklipse, I regret that so much people disliked or hated their experience.

I had a chance I never tought I'd have: to see Sisters of Mercy once in my lifetime. It could have been a nostalgic show, with Eldritch beeing a caricature of himself. But it wasn't. I had the chance to see a show without compromises, a memorable act.

And if I have one more chance to go to a Sisters gig, I'll probably go… But I would stand in the very first rows.

i'm glad you enjoyed it martin. i assumed that you were sticking up for the complainers because you too had been disappointed. good to hear that's not the case.
