 You know I'm a follower not a leader John, so I'l give you a choice of three:

a) The Angel (upstairs bar). Up side: it has previous Heartland connections. Down side: it's been know to shut at the drop of a Leeds game.

b) Fab Cafe. Up side: I can give the pinball machine a good seeing to while you play bootleg bingo and discuss least-loss transfer protocols. Down side: you might bump into your teenage daughter at the bar.

c) The Fenton. Up side: guaranteed to be open. Down side: it's a good old-fashioned Tetley's boozer.

Dave seems to be in a decisive frame of mind these days, so he can decide. We'll be there from about 1pm onwards.

Right you fcukers. Here's the deal. Fenton's 'too far' from the station, so fcuk that. We need easy quick jaunts, and given that we're not in the Dam, Ode widj Voorburgwaal will have to wait. So I recommend The Angel. It's trad, it's groovy(ish), and hopefully it won't be shut. If it is, erm, tough s**t. We'll worry about that later. (I have Johnnys mobile no. , so there'll be no loss of drinking time - very important given my 'window of opportunity).

See you all there. Anyone fancy an 11 o'clock kick off? Say yes, or die.

Just heard that Our Man is currently stocking up on duty free at Cape Town airport. :)

Don't expect any of it to still be available by the time we hit Leeds ... :innocent:

If there's no duty-free by the time you reach Leeds, I'd suggest you won't so much 'hit' town as stumble hopelessly into it, with all spew on your chins.

Twas ever thus. I assume you're making a beeline for the Angel as soon as you're here (in whatever state, but the trashedier you are the better). I'd meet you at the station, but I don't wanna be seen to be accountable to you, or have to clean you up.

TBH, I plan to get to the pub for 12ish, so there's every chance I'll be similarly refreshed by the time you get there anyhoo.

See you Sat. 8)

I guess straight to The Angel or maybe via The Hotel? That's Frankie Boy's call as I don't know the geography or logistics. :?

Rest assured we will be presentable. My duty free consumption comment was referring to Luke's first night here (tomorrow). :innocent:

Welcome to England. Welcome to hang over hell.

Indeed. :von:

A rather short and terse text from Our Man " ...Engine failure ...back in Cape Town ..."

I'll keep you updated ... :|

I think the plane he was on had more than one engine ...

Of course, I think for such long distance flights you need at least three, no? But still, not a pleasant thing to happen right.

Is he off again?

Latest: Alles klar. Problem fixed and he's leaving Cape Town at 20:30 BST to Windhoek (Air Namibia) and they've delayed the Windhoek-Gatwick flight to wait for the Cape Town passengers. So besides being naturally pissed off at the delay, the upside is that he'll arrived into Gatwick tomorrow morning at 10am :) as opposed to some god forsaken 5am. :urff:

Yikes. Gremlins in the engines. Just what you need to hear prior to a loooooong journey. :urff:

You're a baaaad man Keith but the latest is that Our Man has " ... got on a plane again ..." 8)

Which makes sense because he can't really swim here, can he?

He's not stupid. :innocent:

Ok, he's got to Windhoek safely and is now boarding and UK bound. :P

Normal service has been resumed ... :D
