So who'll win the World Cup...

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

and i felt really sorry for the USA (not often i say that  :innocent:) against italy - all the USA were trying to do was play a game of footy!

it wasnt really their fault that the italian players faked half a dozen "bad" tackles and got a half of them sent off

i guess the amercians need to prepare a bit more next time - maybe watch a bit of italian soccer on tv & see how they play the game.... :innocent:

and national stereotypes not withstanding, genuinely surprised no american multimillionaires tried to bribe any of the italian squad though :innocent:

So much for my tipping them as potential winners after the first game.

I don't understand people who say "ooooo, we want to avoid Germany in the next round". If we want to be best in the world then we've gotta prove it by beating the top teams, rather than sneakily getting through to the next round thanks to avoiding the goodens. Just goes to show we're a bunch of spivs...;-)

Doh.......... ;D

I get bored with 1966 being bought up ev-ery-time. We won it at home, like Greece won the Euro cup at home - being in your own country raises your game. To be the best, you've got to beat the best away. Oh yes..... 8)

Spain could do well. It depends who they get to face from group G, but I don't see them having problems against any of them.

But then in the quarters they'll probably have Brazil...

Maybe not you personally, but there was a fair amount of Scots over here supporting T&T because one of the players plays for the scottish league or something. And.... yes...because they played against England. ;D

P.S. Is that Helga again?

Seconded!

Argentina will be the real thing, though I must say that Mexico performed better than I expected.

Holland today against Portugal. Tough one!
