None of the above.
It's two clues in one.

Need another clue?
Like I said, it's two clues in one. The first is the American football line you've all been taking but you need to know the terminology.
The other involves knowing who's in the picture.

Right, so the Internet educated me that "Go Long" basically means "throwing a ball to a player far away", e.g. a very long pass. Then that is Virgin Mary holding the football ... searching the Internet for cross references between American Football and Virgin Mary revealed the term "Hail Mary" pass.
Alas, the lyrics are probably from Something Fast:
"hailing maries left and right"

A perfect explanation. Well worked out.

But is Heartless correct?

by stufarq
Yes, that's what I meant. Heartless worked out the answer and gave a full explanation of it too.

Great. Trying to come up with some equally clever this evening, should have something until the morning, e.g. within the next 12 hours. This is getting difficult if one does not want it to be too obvious.

Alright, the clever one will have to wait until next time. Here you go:

Nope, that is not the song I was looking for.

Not that one either, Summer is way too new.

Neither of the two, and Marian is also "too new". Izzy and Nikolaus have the right era with their guesses.

'High tide' - Adrenochrome
or
'Tell her where the sun shines bright' - Alice

Again, neither. Good guesses, though. Another hint: It's a non-album song from that early era.

It is a non album song but it is on Overbombing.
