I'm listening through as many bootlegs as I can to write them up. But I am VERY annoyed by the fact that certain song names should have one letter non-capitalised, ie "No Time to Cry" instead of the proper "No Time To Cry".
So now, all the non-capitalised ones will be made into Redirect pages, taking you to the proper capitalised version.
I'm a perfectionist, these little details do annoy me. Plus I'm bored.

I think it looks bad. Those words are equally important.
But that's why I've made them into redirects. You CAN still link to the lower case version if you want, but they'll redirect to the capitalised version.
Anyway. If that grammar is good enough for the Sisters, it should be good enough for us.

The capitalisation has been getting to me too. at Dark
The wikipedia has a standardised capitalisation policy.
BTW; you know that if you rename a page, the redirect is automatically left where the original was; I don't know how you've been doing it, but if you were to rename (say) Under the Gun to Under The Gun it would do the work for you; easier than copy-and-paste...

the convention (known as headline style) is that "the first and last words and all nouns, pronouns, adjectives, verbs, adverbs, and subordinating conjunctions (if, because, as, that, etc.) are capitalized. Articles (a, an, the), coordinating conjunctions (and, but, or, for, nor), and prepositions, regardless of length, are lowercased unless they are the first or last word of the title..."
(source: Chicago Manual of Style (14th edition))
...but I'm happy with the every-word-is-capitalised policy if it's consistently applied

Bah, consistency be damned.
For example, I still think
First And Last And Always
looks fine, but
Temple Of Love
looks odd.
Probably just me.

Well, anyway, as long as it's consistent...

I had an idea; if anyone fancies expanding some of the songs' articles we have a Lyrics forum to copy -- er I mean research -- from.

Yes, I was thinking along those lines. I personally would be a little.. annoyed.. if I was looking up information about songs and found "Lyrics Should Not Be Posted" shouting at me.
Read the pages for each SSV song. I admit, those can have lyrics because they're unofficial releases (and to be honest, no-one would care), but I wrote descriptions of the songs and everything..
I'll start on the unreleased songs now. You better all follow suit.

Copyright issues: just because a song hasn't been released, don't mean it isn't copyrighted.
Although I guess we could just say "fcuk it," post the lyrics, and if anyone complains, we take them down... but the lyrics would stay in the version history

OK so I've made a start (but with no commentary so far) with 1959.
I suggest the way I've done it as a kind of template?
See also Clicky as a kind of copy-and-paste starter

Yeah, I know.paint it black wrote:commentary seems to be a very dangerous area to be getting into. look at the 1959 site
I was thinking of just lifting stuff from the lyrics section on here; not straight copy-and-paste, but summarising maybe. It's a hassle though.
But if you take Colours as an example, you can see how we can link to stuff on here from there and use information from here on there too.

I'm all for having lyric analysis on the wiki (of course, I would be...) - in fact, I think it's a great idea. I talked a long while ago about building a site for keeping track of lyric discussion, akin to the excellent (if strangely coded) Exploring The Waste Land Web site. And the more I've been thinking about it, the more I've been thinking that a wiki is the best approach, especially if people create their own pages for discussing different glosses of the lyrics...
So, I say go for it. I'd be happy to do some copying-and-pasting from 1959 and all that / Dominion archives / etc. if it would help, too. Anyone else have any thoughts?
--George
p.s. I also say stick up all the lyrics, and pull 'em if anyone complains.. ;p

I'm fine with lyric analysis but I'd suggest using the talk function to at least try to come to some consensus before adding it to the actual page for the song, otherwise things could get messy with people wanting to kill other people's revisions.
I still don't have an internet connection at home and am very busy at work otherwise I'd take a more active part in the Wiki.

I've been using the lyrics from here, which I know is a bit wonky at times; it just seemed easier to find them all in one place and do a cut-and-paste job than retranscribing them myself.
Yeah. The "Talk" pages seem woefully underused in general.hallucienate wrote:I'd suggest using the talk function to at least try to come to some consensus

After a hack scare on the server that hosts the Wiki I thought it wise to upgrade it to the latest version of the Wikimedia software... Easier said than done.
Some people may've noticed some problems during the course of this afternoon. I don't think any data was lost as the database contents were not touched. One image went missing but I was able to restore it from a back-up.
End result is that the Wiki is now secure(ish) and you lot are free to carry on using/ignoring it.

I've found another problem.
When I log in it says: Sisters wiki dot org uses cookies to log in users. You have cookies disabled. Please enable them and try again. So I went back to the main page and it said I was logged in, so I went to the discography and it said I was logged out.
I checked every page and on each one it says I was logged out except the main page which said I was logged in.
I doubt it should be doing this.

Some sick f**ker has been putting pornographic links on the "Help:contents" page.
EDIT: I've removed the links.
