Best Intros In The World... Ever!

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

And last night, lying in my bed with the curtains open to watch the MASSIF SNOW coming down, listening to "Thunder and Consolation" on my headphones, I thought eeeeeeeeee by gum, that intro to "I Love The World" ain't half bad either. :notworthy: 8)

Ribbons, Black Planet.

Now that's out of the way.

Gimme Shelter is correct too.
"My Girlfriend's Girlfriend" by Type O Negative. Brilliant intro, too bad the riff never shows up again and they never wrote anything else as good.
"Ziggy Stardust" Bowie
"London Calling" The Clash

I think likewise about said Type O Negative track. I often like parts of their tracks rather than liking the rest of the song. The others are good choices too.

Yippeeeeee! Another old thread of mine revived! ;D

Well that's good because I've thought of a few more:

White Rabbit - Jefferson Airplane
God Gave Us Life - Half Man Half Biscuit ("one, two, three, four, John the Baptist knows the score...")
Liberator - Spear Of Destiny

and  how could I forget Transmission! :notworthy:

Here's one where maybe someone can help me out!

There was a classy choon a while back, the intro went "It is happening again... it is happening again... it is happening again..." then the whole thing went f--kin' apesh!t. Can't for the life of me remember what it was, but that was dead cool.

No votes for The Byrds - Eight Miles High yet? Shame!
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

Generally Graveland makes fine intros to their records. Most intros bore me.
i also like the small synth intro to SKOS. And Driven Like the Snow.

Definitely not Skinny Puppy, I'd know if it was.

Ministry's a maybe, I was also thinking Butthole Surfers?

Daddy, what does regret mean?
Well son, the funny thing about regret is,
It's better to regret something you have done,
Than to regret something you haven't done.
And by the way, if you see your mom this weekend,
Be sure and tell her, SATAN, SATAN, SATAN!!!
I no longer get very wrought up over the liminals

It's a sample taken from Twin Peaks IIRC. I know DJ Shadow used it somewhere on his first album 'Endtroducing', but that's probably not what you're looking for...
