The man really can't be arsed anymore. Giving your best known song to another artist in the middle of a big gig? It'll be the Doktor singing next. You've been had. Again.

So funny how this band can't do anything good anymore no matter what they do. For some there's always something to complain about.
Back in the days I would start defending but now this just gives me a faint smile and great thoughts. ;D

Maybe she'll be joining the line up full time?

I bet you could have made a killing at the bookies.

'I'll have a tenner on a female keyboard player doing This Corrosion half way through The Sisters set in Cologne.' ;D

They're damned if they do, damned if they don't.

Same old setlists, no suprises, blah blah blah.....

I don't think she'll be there next time, that it was a one off kinda thing... for the goff kids :D

As I said before, I really liked her backings on Dominion & Temple (during Arms I didn't actually hear her), but the TC was misplaced IMHO. For me it would've worked better as 1st encore or something, but that's just me moaning. I did enjoy looking around the moshpit and seeing all of us 'hardcore' peepz looking a bit lost. How does one mosh to this piano thing?!

It was not my fave gig, but very happy to have been there!

Brilliant gig, although I expected nothing. But the temper of the crowd was excellent, the meetings before and after quite funny, and :von:'s voice not too bad (actually quite well, even in Flood II). Fair enough, the setlist could have been a little bit better (also concerning Neverland), but it could have been worse. I was glad about Suzanne and Summer.

Cuthbert singing TC was not that highlight for me though, but her backing vocals and a version of Temple of Love lasting more than 1,5 minutes (without getting on my nerves) was good fun.

All in all it was a top night out, as many ingredients were right below the line.

Chris has confirmed this on Formspring, and also that it was :von: 's idea to have her at the gig. Bet he was attracted by the "darker Tori Amos" tag !

A quick review, I thought Cologne was a fantastic gig. It helped that it was in sunlight so we could see the band very clearly and there was a sufficient concentration of people we all knew it make it really enjoyable to catch up again with everyone. It was much louder than in Belgrade and I liked Kiss The Carpet as the opener. Everyone else has commented on the surprises and I've got nothing to add, but I've stuck my video of This Corrosion up at http://youtu.be/R7rdFaQYA7g.

The festival itself and festival site were pretty good, although clearly wearing a Guns N' Roses t-shirt and Arsenal jacket suggested it wasn't really aimed at me. City centre festivals within working distance of the hotel are to be welcomed. That said, there was a friendly atmosphere, the beach bar was cool. I remember sitting there with Andrew, Martin and Vanessa swapping Alan Partridge quotes over beers! The food was awful - I didn't manage to get any currywürst and the leberkäse was basically pink slime - and the bar prices were set at British festival levels.

Here's a link to photos, tag yourself if I've not tagged you, because let's face it those are the photos you actually want to see.

Well, after refreshing from refreshments, here are three of short vids. As usually, not all songs, and not only the band...

Kiss The Carpet:

Suzanne:

Temple:

And of course, great show and great to meet you all!!!!

And just a short personal review about Lisa Cuthber's inclusion: not that bad as backing vocal, but I really could get by without her frontline performance (during culmination of my consternation I even mentioned it sounded "like some German band", for which I now do appologize to my 80m neighbours...)

Did anyone find a really good video of Kiss?

Sukhoi's is a valiant effort but short and with a ton of audience singing audible (but thanks for posting it).

I'm afraid I agree with sukhoi here.
This lady is undoubtedly very talented, and she definitely can sing a lot better than Andrew Eldritch, which makes her just as good as many other female and male talented singers out there. She could do wonderful backing vocals at a Sisters gig, which she did and it's great. She could make her own cover version of an entire Sisters song, and she could put it on her record, or she could play it live during her gigs, to people's enjoyment and applause.
But honestly what's the point of her singing an entire song, as lead vocalist, during a Sisters gig? :? I'm sorry but I do not get it.
It would've seemed perfectly justified if there was a sudden emergency (for example, the lead singer got ill or drunk or angry at something or whatever) - but this seems totally planned in advance, and that's why I don't like it. :(
Oh well, who am I to judge, I haven't been here for months and I didn't even go to the gig. :|

edit:
also what makes me sad is that so many people here, and so many people on facebook, seem to be posting the link to this version of TC as highlight of the gig. :(

Yes, I did :)

On the gig - I enjoyed it very very much. On the female singer - I didn't enjoy her performance as I use to enjoy the Lambchop version but I like the idea that Von is open to completely new ideas 8)
