THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

Money-making scheme for the record company or not, this is fantastic and i already preordered them from play!

i suppose if Eldritch writes a vehemently disapproving statement on the site regarding these releases then i'll be a good lemming and cancel, though. Probably.

If he's against the release, f**k contract law.

Am I right in thinking the Floodland vinyl versions are slightly different to what made it onto CD? (This Corrosion, Driven Like The Snow??) if so, hopefully we'll get the Vinyl versions, Amazon does say "original recording remastered."

This Corrosion and Driven... are longer on the CD mix IIRC. I can't really remember if there's much of a difference though. It's a long time since I listened to the vinyl rather than the CD.

I know that Driven doesn't have that long drawn out intro, not sure about Corrosion though.

Aye, that's right.

I'm fairly sure the CD version is longer. I don't think there's more lyrics (unless it's a few more "hey hey hey-a-hey now now now now"s)

The LP version is only about 9 minutes long (same as the 12" single version), but the CD mix is just under 11 minutes. Probably a few more "Hey now"s with a marginally longer fade-out.

Track lengths of different LP releases are at Ian Grimstead's old site, in case you want to compare them to those on a CD.

Contacted my old boss at the record shop where i used to work and asked him about the reissues.
He said he'd seen them a while ago on a forthcoming release sheet from Sony/BMG and he confirmed they are coming out via Rhino, who also did some Jesus And Mary Chain reissues earlier this year.
He's going to ask the rep if there's any promo stuff going round.
I'll keep you posted if i hear anything.

Matt..

While on the subject... The sisterhood: "Gift" is, afaik, out of print... and I don't have it on cd. Who holds the copyright to that material?

Better still:
Update (23/9/06) Album reissues

Sony/BMG (a subsidiary of Time Warner Inc) have confirmed they are reissuing the first three Sisters Of Mercy albums (First And Last And Always (1985),Floodland (1987) & Vision Thing (1990) via Rhino on Monday, October 30, 2006.
We belive some well educated and thoughtfull executive at time warners noticed the silver bullet tour and took his chance to jump on the train and milk a cow he left for dead years ago, but we can not say for sure as we were not consulted!
We advise you to save your money for the new album to be released by merciful release and wait for these reissues to be "leaked" onto the web.
