Damage Done on Ebay

I don't think that in 20 years anyone is interested in the Sissies or their bootlegs.
A second morgage on your house would be a better option.
1981: Damage Done is sold fer a penny.

1985: Austrian rock singer Falco records Rock Me Amadeus.

2007: Damage Done fetches 300 plus euro on eBay.

2025: My Daughter enters university.

Do the maths. ;)

What's next:
2055: Falco returns from the dead and becomes the new Lead singer of the Sisters ????

I know , besides Robin, that Y from Canada had a couple of them. I don't know if he had acetates from DD, but definately from some other Sisters records. Extremely rare and very expensive on the market.
I bought a Under the Gun acetate from Y a while back.
It wasn't too cheap but it's a nice collectors item to have. :D

What do acetates look like? Are they simply a black disk with handwritten labels in a plain sleeve?

And is it wise to play them?

Most acetates are just aluminium discs, with a celluloid coating on top.

It is not wise to play then if you want to keep them in good condition. Their only purpose was to be played just a few times, an then make a 'proper' final product.

Acetates were used to send to record companies (portastudio acetates), to give them a hint at what the progress was, or to let them choose which songs to put on the final product. They were a bit like our low-budget CDRs nowadays...

Found a very good linky here...

And another question: how many acetate items were made from each single single/EP?

@Nic: 250€?

Sometimes a xerox or something like comes with the acetate, but most of the times it's just the acetate in a black or white sleeve, with the name of the artist and song handwritten on it.

I was tempted to buy some acetates in the past, but I didn't. I don't think they're worth the money ...

I think it depends in how many factories the record is being pressed, since records appear from different countries in different pressings.
I guess every factory needs an acetate first before they make thousands of copies.
