CBD&PO by my bad luck regarding a new job: First offer seemed to be an outstanding chance to write a ph d thesis and getting payed for it - turns out it's a dubious guy with an organisation nobody who should know has ever heard about. And this guy wants me to work for him for free for about a month just to get an invitation for an interview!
Second promising application (perfect job just around the corner from where I live) gets me 2 interviews and then they delay the decision for 10 days only to tell me afterwards they've found somebody more qualified. Being turned down is one thing, and I can/have to cope with it. But the email telling me is another, going along the lines of "...good qualifications, but you also need that tiny bit of luck, which, unfortunately, you didn't have this time. However, we thank you for your time."

darkparticle. I've been to more funerals in my life than weddings thanks to this being in both sides of my family. Thoughts and strength go out to you and like Eva said, in PM if you need it.

I've inherited a house at the end of the world. As it wasn't empty when my parents bought it and my mum was ... er ... a collector (to avoid the term "messie"), I haven't been able to empty it myself but had to organise a specialised company (and pay s**t loads of money for it). I told the guy in charge that the toilets mustn't be used, cause I've turned the water off in the whole house during winter. He said, no problem, they'd pay attention.
When I went there yesterday with the manager's "right hand" (a youngster who doesn't even speak proper german, let alone understand it) I found the house dirty, some stuff had been forgotten, and, worst of all: all three toilets had been used, paper still lying in the bowls, and obviously nobody had thought of getting water from the nearby well to clean up the mess. Even worse: one of the toilets is broken, I had told the guy, and it has nevertheless been used, so the liquids have run down into the cellar. And I have to consider myself lucky that it was only liquids.


I fail to find the words to express my disgust, disappointment (I had had a good gut feeling when dealing with the manager) and anger. I actually feel like crying. Yes, I have been in touch with the manager, and yes, he has promised to clean everything up within the next 3 days.
But still, it cost me a good night's sleep just to figure out what has to be done until I can accept the work as done halfway propperly. Do I trust them to do it propperly this time? Nope, but I simply can't face going with them to check.

Related reason to be pissed off: our company rents an office in a shared building. Almost every time I go to use them, at least one of the "stalls" is dirty, with either pee on the floor, or on the seat, or worse than pee.

I dread to think what it would be like without the cleaners.

Some people are just disgusting.

Aye, at the last place I worked at 2 years ago, every week there were complaints about the state of the toilets, and the poor cleaners had to clean up that evening. It went on so much that there was a weekly meeting about any incidents and staff had to attend.

What's worse is that the incidents always happened in the Ladies, never in the Gents

As my Mum said it's not tragic or unfair it's just life and it's ups and downs and try remember the good times!

sorry to hear the new job wasn't up to scratch and that you got messed about like that *hug*. . Even worse that those cowboys had no respect or decency to do their jobs with any pride

Depression (mild to moderate ) most of my adult life slipping into major when my wife announced she was leaving me - Not cured but coping 2 years later despite access issues with the children and the divorce dragging whilst lawyers leech away my remaining money. Forced to live in a house where you can hear the neighbours beating each other

At least I still have the love of friends and music to pull me through the darkest times

another funeral with my hubby having to do a speech to the public. goddamn proud of him i am. my kids first funeral too but they handled it so well being their great grandfather. smack bang in the middle of the holidays like my life goes. oh well, something good came out of it as the married part of the family as the grandchildren are mostly younger than me and there are new generations with us. amazing how life goes and twirls and turns and more than grateful to the family born into and that i'm part of.
