"New" Box-Set

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

Sisters crap I consider as the highly collectable kind!

If :von: took a sh*t on my pavement, I'd scrape it off, put it in my freezer for some years and then sell it on Ebay for $1000

The crap box set has arrived! :notworthy:

OK, report follows.

The box itself is really really crap. A drunken James Blast using a PC could do a better job.

The individual cardboard sleeves are rather nice though, but no booklets, no photos, no lyrics, no sleevenotes, nothing.

FALAA is the Japanese mixes. :urff: Correct front cover colours and layout but incorrect back cover. Although it does have "Amphetamine Logic" printed on it, so that's something I suppose. Oddly enough the CD itself looks like the Rhino reissue, complete with an MR/Rhino logo, but the text is white rather than silver/grey.

Floodland and VT likewise have CDs that look like the Rhino reissues. Same white instead of silver/grey text though. Haven't listened to these yet but I suspect that they're just the original un-remastered pressings from Warners with a different CD label.

Some Girls and Overbombing on the other hand have CDs that look like the original Warners CDs. Haven't listened to these either but I see no reason to expect them to be anything other than the original Warners CDs.

Overall it looks like a cheap and nasty attempt by Warners at shifting surplus stock. Using the Japanese mixes on FALAA is low.

I can't complain though cos I did walk into it with my eyes open, plus I wanted fresh copies of SGWBM and ASCOOB anyway. And the cardboard sleeves are nice too.

It's nice to have SG and OB back in print too, so I suppose if you don't already have them it's a reason to buy. If that's the case you should also buy the proper Rhino reissues for the correct mixes of FALAA and the bonus tracks.
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

I agree as to the individual cardboard sleeves, they are ok.

So for the next step we should all put damning reviews on Amazon. Mine's gone up.
