Gibson? Unlikely. He's decidedly a more off-line chap.
That Virgin.net interview in '97 wrote:Alexa Williamson: Getting back to the part of that Mojo quote, "locked in with my computer", how much have you used the Internet? You stated on the phone that you are not an "avid" Internet user. Is this because you're jaded by it?

What is your opinion of the Net as a medium for communication - do you think it's a good thing - a bad thing? William Gibson stays far away from it (although you'd expect the exact opposite after reading his books) because he thinks it's consuming all aspects of established culture.

If you haven't reached a point where you're anti-Internet do you have any favourite Web sites that you visit often? Or would recommend that others check out?

Andrew Eldritch: In the days of fidonet it was all quite exciting. The Internet itself is one of the Umpteen Wonders Of The Modern World, but the Web has been variously described (by me) as "text for people who can't read" and "the fastest way to get from where you wouldn't want to be to where you wouldn't want to go". American colleges seem to have a relaxed admissions policy (to put it mildly), so the Net is overpopulated by morons with free access and nothing better to do all day. Consequently, it's like being in a library with twenty million people shouting at each other. These are people who have never had sex and probably never will.

William and I haven't really talked about the Internet; we've tended to correspond more by fax and letter. I suppose that's a judgement by default.

I don't have any sites to recommend. I recommend that people join libraries, or - better still - buy books and thereby encourage others to write them. Others like William, who is Really Rather Good. I thought "Idoru" was easily his best book yet. Go out and buy it (says the man with a free copy).

That New Yorker profile on Gibson is also Rather Good and makes me want to read Pattern Recognition and work myself up to his later works :)

I didn't really think it likely that William Gibson would be lurking on HL - just having a bit of fun. ;D

Don't quote this but I think there was another occasion when Gibson mentioned the Sisters and Nick Cave, saying something to the effect that he admires them and would love to write something as good as one of Cave's albums (Let Love In maybe?)

I can't find it now though. Would anyone happen to have the link?

oh, here it is:
William Gibson wrote:MEANWHILE, BACK AT THE SHERATON, DR. JEEP PLAYS ON AND ON AND ON...

Bruce Sterling introduced me to Sisters of Mercy on our DIFFERENCE ENGINE tour, and "Vision Thing" became our official tour anthem; so, no, I wasn't listening to them when I wrote NEUROMANCER. I was listening to what Andrew Eldritch listened to in order to write those songs, I intuit.
He's one fine lyricist, is Andrew Eldritch.
As is Nick Cave. I'd like to write a novel as good as THE BOATMAN'S CALL.

Namedropped on stage twice last night by Nine Day Decline. First referencing John Ashton as producer for both bands and then they finished their set with a Lucretia outro.

Which was nice :)

Many years back there was footage of a fashion show using phantom, that was a great fit

Now that you are talking about that, i think there are many out there
for example

Andrej Pejic Men
Fashion Show

or
Chains of Love Fashion Show by Anesa Cvetkov

or in
Alexandre Plokhov
if you check in details it writes:
Quote:"Plokhov's dark, chiaroscuro palette dominated by midnight black and varying shades of gray that had a slight hint of goth. He called his collection "a stylistic fan letter" to musicians Glenn Danzig (Danzig) and Andrew Eldritch (Sisters of Mercy), famous front men of iconic goth bands."

i believe the last one would be delighted to dress :von: for his stage performance... ;D

Commodore Amiga game developer - "Eldritch The Cat".

" According to the manual, the main sprite is also based on a sketch of guitarist Andrew Eldritch of 1980s gothic UK rock band "The Sisters of Mercy".

'Marc does his work for Hewson through his own company, Eldritch the Cat, formed in partnership with programmer Steve Weatherill.
"Yes," he agrees, "it IS a weird name! It has a rather dubious origin — there was a guitarist called Andrew Eldritch who played with a group called Sisters of Mercy. Our graphic artist did a drawing of him that later became the main sprite in Astaroth.'
