I got Andrew's sweaty towel from the Sunday night gig. I'm going to use his DNA to create a clone and then I can get him to sing On The Wire, Kiss The Carpet and Jolene every night.

;D

Oh, and that was my friends who gave Andrew the St. Pauli inflatable guitar. A big boo to the sourface biatch who snatched it in a temper tantrum and threw it on the stage.

hello my lovelies...back from Hungary, what a wonderful trip it was meeting family, friends, (old and new) and the Sisters! Wow the gig was amazing I am so glad we came ..it was so different from Tilburg for me at least. I screamed less, stood a lot closer to the stage and enjoyed it so much. It was great to meet you guys, too bad we couldn't stay for Saturday but hey until next time (we should do this more often btw). pics will follow soon enough (grouphug heh). caught Ben on the way out and it was great talking to him.

now back to reality..work tomorrow

Hopefully this idea will take off, with the whole crowd waving inflatables - Andrew certainly seemed to enjoy it!

By the time The Sisters get to Dublin again, we could all be waving bananas and singing "Olé, Olé, Olé".

Review I posted on Cureconnections
In days of old, The Sisters Of Mercy were the “arch goths.
They poked out a tongue at the rest of the rock world & immersed themselves in smoke, big hats & swirly guitar riffs that left me breathless. All driven along by Doktor Avalanche, they were (to me) the finest band in the universe.
Today, they vocally distance themselves from that genre & have morphed into a more industrial groove machine, still driven by the good Doktor under the tender attentions of Nurse.
This year marks their 30th anniversary & I was lucky enough to see 2 of their shows this weekend on the A38 ship in Budapest.
I had really set my heart on the Leeds shows, but as things panned out, work put paid to that & nearly ended my chance of the ones in my own country.

To open a show with FALAA is the way to go. It should have opened the album instead of Black Planet. Already the energy oozed from the band as this classic was belted out for the 1000 capacity crowd.
Then we were taken down a more or less regular set with the re-emergence of a reworked Logic slotted in.
Then it happened. Floorshow. I heard the 2009 versions & was unimpressed, but it seems they have done a bit of work on it since & delivered it brilliantly. I only wish those screams circa 1985 would be added to put the icing on the cake.
& on the subject of screams. Much talk of Mr Eldritch losing his ability to freeze the blood in a human at 10 paces with his voice was debunked the instant “Alice. Don't give it away left his lips. The voice was back. In spades.
Anaconda followed & was about 200% better than any 2006 version. Punchy & thumping through the body like only Anaconda should.
Next up, a RLYL cover (Gift That Shines). I heard this on the Leeds recording but to be there was heavenly. They didn't murder it either (unlike Comfortably Numb not so long ago).
The crowd had been fairly static up until now, but the minute More started up, they came to life. The bouncing made the boat move around in the water. A pretty weird feeling when at a gig I can tell you.
& then (as if proof were needed) Flood II. On a recent S2N playlist I chose the 2009 Budapest version of this one. It was the best I have ever witnessed. This one came very close & the cry of “Flooooooooooood, FLOOOOOOOOOooood felt like it drained the blood out of me completely. If I could here thet cry over & over again, it still wouldn't be enough.
1st encore and Kiss The Carpet (fave off The Reptile House EP) started up. I melted on the spot. Not a dancy number, but pure darkness washed over us as this epic rolled out. Mr E. I salute you!
Vision Thing up next & then Andrew left the stage to the 2 guitarists (Ben & Chris) to relay a cover of Pipeline (The Chantays). A surf rock instrumental that took the place of Top Nite Out.
The boys went mad on it, switching stage positions from left to right & generally rocking out like madmen.
Then on to a classic finish. Temple Of Love still remains my fave song of all time. In period of 90 minutes, all the work hassle had been washed away.

More of a standard set on the second night. Until we got.... On The Wire.
Haven't heard this one in a while live & the boys did it proud. Shouts & all.
Susanne got slotted in & this track seems to be “Marian II & is better than the revamped Marian, although Ben's getting the hang of the swirly guitar bits gradually.
The crowd on night 2 was a lot more active, making the boat move even more than the previous evening.
Never Land was a sound for sore ears. A beautiful piece that deserves to be full length every time it's played.
Into the first encore & the moment I had been waiting for.
TSOM constantly cover The Sisterhood's Giving Ground. Last night Rain From Heaven took me straight to Heaven.
Sheer bliss as this anthem peeled through the air. Arms aloft from just about everyone in the ship. This is what dreams are made of!
Not getting much time to come back to earth after that, the second encore started with Something Fast.
Ben has copped a lot of flack in the past, but his guitar break on this track is stunning. Makes me weep.
Last, but Not least. Vision Thing.
It's a small world & it tastes funny. I'd buy another if it wasn't for the money.
Rock at its level best!
So no Body Electric or John I'm Only Dancing. But who cares?
The shows were unbelievably good. Sound was perfect. Lights also & more smoke than you could shake a stick at.
The Sisters rocked the boat this weekend. & I was there.

This video gets into the heart of the matter. Vision Thing from the first night... It's never been played better, except that Saturday! A pity there seem to be no other videos from this source.

Calling all stations on this Sat night...
Did anybody out there manage to film the begining of the 26th Feb gig, with Flood I and On the Wire? I'd swap one of my kidneys for this. :)
