Anyway, Sisters never had any of the lyrical imagery related to the stereotypical idea of goth (i.e. coffins, crypts and cobwebs), Von seems more like an aloof spectator commenting on life, the universe and everything (and, occasionally, politics), whereas McCoy was dabbling in thelema, Crowley and Lovecraft. None of them really fit the stereotypical idea of goth (The Neph didn't even look like goths, at least Von had the long and thin as a straw with sunglasses thing going on, and Patricia.. well, she DID looke like a goth), but both are considered goth music nonetheless. So, are they goth? Musically, yes. Image-wise and lyrically, no. Or, maybe. Depends on what you'd consider goth, I guess.

And positive punk is a really f*cking horrible name for a genre.

"positive punk" is almost as oxymoronic as "neo-Luddite". I'd better give th back story to that particular one I guess...

While on the road crew for The Levellers one tour, a band approached me with a CD of their's to pass onto The Levs for a possible support slot. I asked them what style it was...they replied, "We're neo-Luddites. All our instruments are acoustic..."

"Hang on," says I, "you're neo-Luddites??"

"Yeah. We hate everything the modern consumerist industialised world stands for and <I tuned out at that point>"

But yes, UK Decay, Southern Death Cult and Sex Gang Children seems to have been more into Joy Division and such, at least visually (of course, Southern Death Cult/Death Cult had the whole indian thing going on).

I still see the Sisters as a goth band, although they're not goth at all nowadays.

In the Netherlands they were definately a goth band in the eighties, together with Siouxsie, The Cure etc. In the Goth scene where I hang out in those days (late eighties, early nineties), everybody loved black clothes, lots of hairspray and ofcourse The Sisters

Where was that Paul? Femina, Bluf, Scarlet, Rock Fabrik?

Loved those days especially in Femina though I was one of the few non goffs...

Saturday mostly Femina and Bluff, or B52 in Hulsberg or Spuugh in Vaals, later Flesh Temple and Obscura in the good old Oefenbunker.

Yeah, I was one of the dodgy darklings wandering around in the Heerlen scene (and sometimes still missing those days )
