It occurs to me that the title of this thread, Songs The Sisters have covered is slightly misleading: that would be Gimme Shelter, Jolene, Teachers, 1969, Confide In Me, etc. etc.

So I'll take the liberty of changing it.

i renamed it from something ever more ambiguous because i thought thats what lachert's site was going to be about...

however, i couldnt actually check it myself because everytime i looked the site complained in polish about what looked like "too many users"

i assumed BTWOS to be taken from the Black Sabbath song of the same name, and "Jessica's Crime" to be from the bloody awful goth tune you mentioned.
i'll take your word for it and stand corrected -but only as far as the names go; covering the sisters is still unforgiveable.

Well, the problem isn't so much covering the Sisters--it's that those covers tend to be done by unforgiveably bad bands who don't quite 'get it' in the first place. The majority of Sisters covers are garbage of the worst kind, but then there's things like Lambchop doing This Corrosion, the Supersuckers doing Afterhours, Paradise Lost doing Walk Away, and Automatic Head Detonator doing Black Planet (yes, I thought that was pretty great too). I recall there was a Polish gent on here who did a cover of Nine While Nine with a female vocal--that had a lot of potential too, and whoever did that version of Will I Dream? a few months back did a tasteful job of it as well. A Sisters cover is like any other cover: it's only as good as the band doing it. The songs themselves are very good (although Romeo Down sounds unfinished to me), and in the hands of a good band, the covers will be good (for me, I've always wanted to hear 1959 played by Pennywise); in the hands of bands with names like Cruciform Bloodcradle of Morgoth you'll get trash--and no one ought to be surprised by that.

i'm affraid it was band lilith (http://www.lilith.pl) who play as a support on robochrist solo shows in poland and as i remember i download some time "nine while nine" from lilith site and it wasn't sisters cover but something completly different. but maybe i'm wrong

Oh, and glancing at the Lillith site, I don't think it was them. The version of Nine While Nine I'm thinking of was decidedly non-heavy-metal. It had a very poppy sound, clean guitars, etc. The girl singing had a good voice, but needed to work at it a bit more. It wasn't a professional recording, but it wasn't bad either.

Yep, that's exactly right. It's just a wall of noise and drums--it reminds me of a less bluesy and more electronic version of the Immortal Lee County Killers, in a way.

Quite right.

Personally, we would be hard pressed to name a better Sisters' cover, (only alt-country divas Lambchop spring immediately to mind). If there is anyone out there who hasn't heard the Supersuckers doing this one, please do check it out... she's a fine, rocking rendition from a fine, rocking band.
