Andrew Eldritch biography....

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

But here on HL the first (credible) rumour about the upcoming tour came some time in the beginning of december from someone who had talked to his younger brother who studies at Bath University and told him Andrew had said that Adam had definitely quit, the Sisters were planning a big tour to mark their 25th anniversary where they would play in places they haven't played before.

Which sounded more credible for every month after that :-)

So he obviously has contact with his younger brother (I recall from the post that he's around 35).

The problem is I cannot find the post anymore when I search for it :?:

From Quiff:

"von and justin have been mates for a while... not sure exactly how long, or how it happened, but for what its worth they live relatively near each other these days."

My mate watched the NMA DVD of their Astoria show and at the end there's an interview with Justin which alludes to him living near Thornbury Gloucestershire. I haven't seen it but I'd find it hard to believe that Justin lives down south and leave his beloved Bradford.

I think Von probably has a flat near Justins pad in Yorkshire.

My other question about Boyd Steemson (former Sisters manager) went unanswered and I think this should be on a separate thread, anyone any info??
He was manager circa Floodland and was relieved of his duties when Von trimmed down the scale of operations, it was mentioned in UTR. Anyone remember when?

Boyd was interviewed very briefly on Channel 4 News a few years back when asked to comment on the (then) current state of the music industry, they should have had Von instead

i think boyd was sacked - seem to recall von making barbed comments about former management circa "vision thing" :?:

dont hold me to that though :?

and yes, i didn't realise justin was claiming to live darn saarf now, but i reckon you're probably right when you say he must have a pad in/around leeds/bradford. i've certainly seen him buying pizzas in the asda at new pudsey, which is half way between leeds and bradford and not that far from where uncle andy lives these days...

Maybe he reckons Von needs a good feed

I'm with Quiffy on the sacking: I definitely recall mention of Von sacking the entire management team roundabout 92/93, back when things visibly started going bad. He also was decidedly unhappy about the cack up (talk about Freudian! that shoulda been "back up") he received from the biz folks for the PE tour, and roundly blaming the way it turned out on them.
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

So is Uncle Andy permanently living somewhere between Leeds & Bradford nowadays!?? (Asks an interested Purp who happens to live somewhere between Leeds & Bradford...)

Sorry.

We've covered this ground fairly thoroughly in the past; but you weren't to know.

The consensus is that tapes of The Sisterhood demoing This Corrosion exist, but will never get out into the "fan community".

Yes and no.
JR had a copy, which mysteriously ended up in the hands of a Belgian collector.

If you say so. :innocent:

Edit: for clarification: I see no real reason to disbelieve that "a certain Belgian collector" has this tape.

Then again I see no real reason to believe it either.

As I understood it his grandparents lived in Malvern, but he didn't go to school there. If his parents were in the forces and were posted abroad, it would have made sense for him to go to boarding school, which would have been Malvern Boys College - I can't help thinking that they would have touted him as being an OM if he'd been to school there. That being said, there's no mention in the literature of Aleister Crowley having been a pupil there either, so who knows...

There's a Gina Taylor mentioned in the credits for Floodland. Never really put 2 and 2 together on that one till now.

Probly means nothing, but y' never know.

There was a line on Ian Grinmstead's old Sisters site which always intrigued me which said something about Andrew going to school with Jonathon Ross... No citation was given for this and I've never read it anywhere else.

(edit - forgot the site is still up at mixi.net)

I hope to God that his brother's name isn't Robert Taylor because I hate that miserable little prick. One of my former Professor's at college-hate him hate him hate him. Also an actor-well, Taylor is pretty common. Eww..the very thought. :P
