I'm middle management so I guess that makes me a repressed and frustrated miniature tyrant.

But it's actually quite good, really. Nice money, a decent enough boss once you learn to manage him and deal with some of his more bizarre moments, good funny nice colleagues, utterly excellent staff, and very very very little of this:

I've just had to explain the 4-colour (CMYK) printing process to my boss, including a thorough explanation of why there's no such thing as white ink

You know a litre of decent vodka costs about €30 in the land of the 'rich people' - so who's rich now?
Ha! :P
Seriously though, I think low prices of alcohol here are just a means to keep the masses blind, numb and quiet. But it's a topic for a different thread in a different forum.

There's a great bit in one episode of The Ofice where Tim (Martin Freeman's character) says something along these lines:

"OK, this job, it's like I rolled a dice and got a 3. It's OK, it could be worse. And maybe if I rolled again, I could get a 6. But then again, I could get a 1."

The fear factor is a dreadful thing. :|

Re: White ink; I know it exists (white print on black t-shirts for example) but

a) it's not involved in the CMYK process and my boss was holding up a magazine asking "well how do they get the white bits in the photos then?"

and b) white ink for running through an offset litho press? The best you could get would be translucent I'm sure; you couldn't use it like Tipp-ex, which is what he wanted...

Alcohol here also keeps us blind, numb (though not quiet) - but the high cost is tax that funds (self proclaimed 'socialist') politicians extravagent lifestyles................ now that tastes really bitter.

Steps off soap-box............and relax
