That would be "the obvious 5/11-'72 references (:o)", to begin with.Quiff Boy wrote:ignoring the obvious 9/11 references (:o)
So that's why he doesn't need to release a new LP. He's got enough income from dodgy financial scams already.Ramone wrote:October is usually associated with Black History month - the blacks where an oppressed race, so where the Goths. Goths traditionally wear black - it's dark at night , almost Black. It all makes sense. The tour was called Black October 'cos it where Black History month!! So maybe underneath all that hair n glasses persona, Eldritch is actually an African-American called Leroy Umbongo -Katanga from 162nd Street Harlem, New York..Yo !!

Stick with it Grison, it's not their best or really representative of most of thier ouvre. They got back on track with Quark, Strangeness and Charm but even more so with PXR5. After that it all went pish with that dreadful Hawklords 25 years album. IMO they never recovered after Lemmy got the boot. I saw them five times back in the 70s and they were an astonishing experience - a total audio/visual full sensory overload.Grison wrote:James Blast wrote:Hawkwind from the 70s never disappoint ~ FACT!
I have to admit that I got a bit disappointed when I first heard "Astounding sounds, Amazing music"
My least fav. 70´s Hawkwind album...
Only in this thread, though.Hom_Corleone wrote:Agreed wholeheartedly James
Kinda like the 25 years album, Psi power, Free fall: great, Automotonturning into 25years is a bitt funny/punky, almost like Inner city unit stuff, Only the dead dreams... kinda soft tune, think I have to put it on!James Blast wrote:Hawkwind from the 70s never disappoint ~ FACT!
Can't agree Grison, if you read this, you'll see what a state they were in at that time and I think the music reflects it - lifeless, listless, FFS where was the Hawkind Roar!?Grison wrote:Kinda like the 25 years album, Psi power, Free fall: great, Automotonturning into 25years is a bitt funny/punky, almost like Inner city unit stuff, Only the dead dreams... kinda soft tune, think I have to put it on!James Blast wrote:Hawkwind from the 70s never disappoint ~ FACT!
If you do, only read the first 2/3rds of the book, the last third is the same story of what a bastard Dave Brock is and how he stiffed everyone where money was concered. Various ex-'Winders put their point of view, with Brock saying how honest and up front he was. The first 2/3rds don't support his view and while I think Hawkwind sans Brock wouldn't work, he did make some stupid choices.Grison wrote:Thanks for the link, James!
I´ll try to get my hands on that one.
