for all those experienced uk backpacker/travelling gig go-ers out there, how much would a jaunt to sunny germany cost all in, if i wanted to do, say, 3 consecutive dates?

for example:

April 01, Frankfurt
April 02, Leipzig
April 03, Zwickau

how much would i need to think about laying out, including flights, accomodation & gig tickets?

Gig tickets are a bit cheaper than here for the sisters, about £17 I think. Flights should be easy enough for under £50 if you book earlyish, and accomodation varies a lot. Youth Hostels are generaly very nice in Germany, with even some single rooms on offer, at about £15 a night.

Come on Quiffy, ya know you want to...

well, yes. obviously i WANT too

hmm. i'll look into it.

does not speaking german tend to be a hinderance with these things?

...you could always learn esperanto really quickly...
...or even GERMAN! it's *ahem* easy really...
And there's always the usual Brits-talking-to-foreigners tactic of SHOUTING VERY LOUD - IN ENGLISH!!!! ;D

I can't speak a word of German but it's never been a problem...

Most German travel/ticket websites have either an English version or a window with translations in. If there are any Belgian dates, Belgian sites are even easier.

http://www.eventim.de are quite good but I don't know if they are doing the tickets this time?

As to price, can't help you really as I always have to go for the dearer end of the market (my bones are even older than the rest of me). But it's cheaper than travelling around the UK. And the trains go where they say they will.

For you english people:

The Belgian gig should be fairly easy (and cheap) for you to reach. By ferry it takes you a few hours to go to Zeebrugge. From there on a good thumb should get you an hours drive (at max) to the gig...

You even can pay for your travel by taking back to england some bags of cigarettes
