Right, got "AD -Aware" & "Spybot"
AD-Aware is only on a Ten Day trial, did someone say you could get it free?, and acoring to Spybot, I had more cookies than Maryland

I've had adware that could not be removed by
adaware,spybot or spyblaster....
popped up system tray alerts, icons, and all sorts.
I eventually found a site that explained how to
dismantle it and rename/remove the
infected files. I imagine I was just unlucky and that
the above tools hadn't found a fix for the infection
I had yet. It nonetheless shows that no protection
is infallible to new types of infection.

Hello I’m a Mac.
And I’m a PC.
Ah choo! Ah choo! Ah choo!
Gesundheit! Are you okay?
No I’m not OK. I have that virus that’s going around.
Oh yeah.
You better stay back. This one’s a doozy.
That’s okay I’ll be fine.
No no do not be a hero. Last year there were 114,000 known viruses for PCs.
PCs. Not Macs.
Hey I think I’m going to crash.
Hey if you feel…. that’ll help.

I can't believe I totally missed out on this thread.
Yes, use Ad-aware, but prevention is better than cure so use Thunderbird for mail and Firefox for surfing and don't install any dodgy applications (like Windows XP).
I can't comment on user level firewall software as I always use a dedicated linux pc for the job.

Oh, you wit, you.
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

I actually love WinXP, I just can't figure out if it's just to p*ss off my boss or because I can't get full screen video output on my TV using Linux.mh wrote:hallucienate wrote:Yes, use Ad-aware, but prevention is better than cure so use Thunderbird for mail and Firefox for surfing and don't install any dodgy applications (like Windows XP).

I work near one and use Macs as I have no idea how computers work and don't wish to get bogged down with their s**t ways. I switched to Macs and now have no bother at all, not one single problem

Now really, I'm not a Mac-hater at all.
Apple is one of the only companies out there that give you a CHOICE when buying a new computer:
a) either pay more for a keyboard or
b) don't get one
