You could also go for a pint in the Intrepid Fox, before it's pulled down to make way for flats, or the Devonshire Arms, before it's turned into a wine bar. . Or the Electric Ballroom before it's knocked down..

Intrepid Fox was quite alright, so to say. old-school metal types and semi-goths. All way above their Thirties. Decoration was a bit silly though. The stuff you find in supermarkets right before Halloween.
The Electric Ballroom was just the Horror: Neon-PVC-outfits and Platform Boots. Lucky as we were, we even got our money back from the bouncers after complaining.
I've been three times in London already this year and might have to come back for a fourth time. I could need some nightly entertainment advise too.

@ Scott
You from Ipswich by any chance? With a couple of spare tickets for the gig on Ebay!?!??!
What did you have in mind to do in London? 48 hour p*ss up or something more cultural (for want of a better word)?
Millenium Eye? Easy way of taking in a lot of sights without doing much walking.
Camden Market as mentioned above always good to kill a few hours, but you'll need a lot of wedge with you. Good for drinking as well, place is chocka with boozers.
Drop some acid and do the whole loop on the Circle Line?
The Imax cinema?
