Like f**king heavy metal if any of those bands you mentioned are anything to go byIzzy HaveMercy wrote:Oh DO remind me... what does modern gothic sound like?
IZ.
And with Ghost of Lemora you could mention groups like Bloody Dead and Sexy, Chants of Maldoror,SomeKindOfStranger wrote:Ghost of Lemora are a fine modern day goth band with more 'traditional' tendencies.
And to add my tuppence worth to the Star Industry debate - agree with Maisey, Nineties is good but the Velvet album as a whole is a fantastic album.
Modern goth? Hmmmm depends who you believe
Oh. Cool!wild bill buttock wrote:Like f**king heavy metal if any of those bands you mentioned are anything to go byIzzy HaveMercy wrote:Oh DO remind me... what does modern gothic sound like?

Cheshire Cat has done some really good songs.eotunun wrote:I remembered some others songs whom I heard some songs of which were quite good:
Morbid Poetry and The Cheshire Cat, not to forget The Faces Of Sarah (we allready had them elsewhere)
Children Of The Eighties by Morbid Poetry is a nice anthem for oldtimers..
I quite like both of them. But more than that, I like "Jykevää on Rakkaus" by Valo & the Agents. Now that's dark, man!DeWinter wrote:Well, since I live in Finland now, I suppose I should mention HIM, who before the god-awful "love metal" era did a fair m*****n-esque style of music. These days they do songs for fifteen year old self-mutilators, and their lead singer keeps doing these weird groaning noises . And I'm sick to death of seing his fish-face and receeding hairline in every Finnish newspaper and magazine..
Also "The 69 Eyes" who are a walking goth cliche. They dress like and sound like a mix of the Sisters/Type O, but have absolutely no sense of irony and do it all with utter seriousness.

Sombody mentioned Rammstein..
Aye, they were - past tense. A great band, but 1995's 'The Tyranny of Inaction' was mostly shit. Rounded off their career with a couple of odd albums thrown together for Cleopatra, I think (say no more).Rafster wrote:Rosetta Stone were good too.
No, he didn't. Dream Disciples released at least four CDs before North jumped on board. 'In Amber' was a classic.Maisey wrote:Did you know that Carl North took his bass else where and formed the Dream Disciples?
Alright in small doses. I'd heard a number of their tracks (which I liked) before eventually buying 'Psycho Magnet' (which bored me rigid).Maisey wrote:London after Midnight are a brillient take on the goth sound, Sean adopting the Eldritch 'we're not goths' attitude whilst being the gothest of them all. THE 90's goth rock album is Pscho Magnet, although there other full length release is worth it for the song 'you're best nightmare'.
Ah, they did me some favours back in the day (when they were still called Incubus Succubus). Always had a soft spot for them.Maisey wrote:Inkubus Sukubus are female fronted goth rock (as opposed to metal), they like to sing about how pagan they are. They have a die hard following, but I would recomend the album 'Belladonna and Aconite' listen to the title track for an idea of the sound.
Can't remember actually hearing any of their stuff. Though I'm sure Roo was at Art School with me. Perhaps not surprisingly, he was a big goffik fud.Rafster wrote:were the horatii any good?
Partial to a bit of Love Like Blood. The vocals are mostly awful and they were very very derivative back in the day, but I think they eventually managed to carve their own unique sound thanks to a rather good guitarist.wild bill buttock wrote:If its a Trad goth sound you're after,I'm afraid you have to go abroad and suffer from cringeworthy english-as-a-second-language lyrics.Worth checking out;
Love like blood
Garden of delight
It is. As are they.wild bill buttock wrote:Tapping the vein, if female fronted goth is your thing.
Love the Marionettes!allfear wrote:Marionettes
Nosferatu (1991-94 and then 2004-> eras only!!)
Not sure I agree. How can you be utterly serious dressed in a Halloween costume?DeWinter wrote:Also "The 69 Eyes" who are a walking goth cliche. They dress like and sound like a mix of the Sisters/Type O, but have absolutely no sense of irony and do it all with utter seriousness.
I wouldn´t say I speak swedish. I started learning. but as I do so completely on my own, I found it a bit pointless to do so without having the chance to practice. That´s why I haven´t done a bit of learning in the last year..Nic wrote:Mein Gott, er spricht Schwedischeeotunun wrote:Nej, jag är tysk.
I don't speak German so good as you clearly can see...
Sombody mentioned Rammstein..
I wish I could speak German, always liked the language, only picked up a few lines and words listening to German music and watching films.eotunun wrote:I wouldn´t say I speak swedish. There are schools which offer courses, but I can´t afford them. (The cheapest within my range costs 80€ each month. I hope they enjoy the hole in their head.)
Why I want to speak swedish? I want to understand my old Volvo!
Sounds fine in my ears!Och jag tycker sverige är jättebra. Probably a stupid way tp put it...
