Legendary Cult movies you never got...

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

I can't believe Withnail & I & Pulp Fiction have been mentioned!!!
All opinion though of course.

Can't really think of one I don't get so I'll put one I passionately detest indstead..... Braveheart.

I agree, Spinal Tap. Bought it without seeing it. Wished I hadn't.

This thread is bollox but that never stopped me before so i hereby state that i hate 2001 space odyssey, as well as other Kubrick's movies, i hate Hitchcock's movies and i hate Lynch's movies.

If anyone could ever tell me what they're about instead of babbling about their technical and visionary mastery i'd be very grateful, but i doubt anyone can cause i do't believe their movies are really about anyhting at all but emptiness itself.

Shame for anyone who doesn't appreciate Tarkovsky's Stalker...it is one of the most profound movies ever made and if you don't like it it merely shows you're not for subtlelty nor depth but for surface.

I'm a fan of Tarkovsky, but in defence of people who are not, get off of your elitist ass and stop making generalisations. What you just said is equivalent to someone saying everyone who likes Tarkovsky’s Stalker are pseudo-intellectual assholes trying to impress all of their friends with their knowledge of obscure art films.

i DO like Kubrick

i DON'T like the Shawshank Redemption. Why is it such a big deal? Schmaltz given undue respect.

some woody allen is great but the last film he did, the one set in england with ghosts and stuff, was so bad.

i mean it was REALLY bad.[/img]

Sometimes a good schmaltzy movie is all you need. And Shawshank does it best.
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

I don't mind 2001, it's just that I found the end bit incomprehensible before reading the book.

I'd quickly like to rush to the defence of the Blues Brothers here. I think it might be man thing, I spent so long trying to explain to my (now ex) girlfriend why 2 men in shades shaking their tailfeathers was the best thing since bread. And very nealry the best thing since the wheel.

Every bloody crow film after the first. The first one was excellent, they went radically downhill after that. But then again thats hardly a contraversial opinion is it?

Now, don't get me wrong, I love Kevin Smith, and I liked Clerks, but I think (apart from Jay and Silent bob strike back) it was the least good out of the 5 films.

My boyfriend had hyped them up to be the best thing ever, so I agreed to watch some at the weekend but ended up thinking "This is it? Bollocks!"

Naked Lunch, the only film I think I've ever walked out from at the Pictures.

Easy Rider
Eraserheid
Fight Club
Monty Python movies
Naked Lunch
Phonebooth
Total Recall
Videodrome
Zabriski Point

This is Spinal Tap is good but All You Need is Cash - The Rutles is waaaaay better
