Cheers sweetcheeks. The 9th you say? That'll be the day after our night out then.boudicca wrote:It's on the 9th Dave.Planet Dave wrote:Still, it's a damn good excuse to go into town and get snadgered. When's the 9th again?
It's the 21st C you know, and it's possible to choose not to have children without living a life of abstinence.nick the stripper wrote:And actually I have chosen a life of abstinence for the very reason that I think it's cruel and selfish to bring a child into this world.
You mean summer solstice. Broad church and all that.bushman*pm wrote: celebrate the 21st of december instead, the winter solstace, as have the oldest (and trueist!) religion that ever existed!

I know, and I have better weather too.boudicca wrote:Looking outside right now, it's been pissing down and is almost completely dark... God I envy you!
i have always partied harder at the winter solstice than at any of the other "old" holidays; the start of lenghthening daylight hours is well worth celebrating if you are of a chemically nocturnal nature.it 's a spiritual "occasion" first and foremost which by no means has to have anything to do with any religions, all of which are bollocks.bushman*pm wrote:i must admit, i couldnt agree more with NTS, it all boils down to commercial bollox and christians hoodwinking yet another pagan holiday!
as for no more kids, is it really fair on both the new born as well as the already massivly over populated planet to spawn even more ASBO larvae who nobody really wants or cares about? what sort of a life can they look forward to?
i dont often rant but xmas is SH*TE BULL SH*TE!!!!

as for bringing kids into the world with an uncertainty as to the life they could have, would you give up your one lifetime because it might rain on your birthday? life is hard and cruel and painful at times for most -but it's the only one you're going to get and remains the greatest "gift".(records released as weapons in holy wars come a close second.)
Happy fuckin' Christmas. The law of vicarious liability means that employers can be liable for the actions of their employees even where the conduct takes place out of hours and away from the work place. As a result of this, employers can be responsible for discriminatory remarks or harassment which occurs at a Christmas party.
Employers also have a common law duty of care towards employees, which is why managers will take responsibility in supervising the behaviour and safety of those at a party.
Employers are also entitled to take action in respect of misconduct which takes place out of hours. Our disciplinary policy states that conduct inside and outside working hours is capable of coming under the disciplinary policy.
Arse-photocopying out of the question then?smiscandlon wrote:Extract from a 4 page memo received today from our company's HR department, titled "Christmas Parties":
