'The Stig's American brother' or something along those lines
You should've seen the part right after where they had to get to 50 and stop again before hitting the alligators

Perfect viewing for winding down on a Sunday, but they do seem to exagerate things some times to make for better viewing - like when they took a home made convertable through a car wash and "Set the car wash on fire". It was the local car wash in Bedford they used (on the way back from Milbrook Proving Ground) yet the local papers reported that the car wash was working fine straight after filming.... So maybe the rednecks had dollar bills stuffed in their (six-fingered) hands to perform for the cameras? Still good viewing though, even if it was all ballcocks.

Now that's just bee-yootiful!!
"I honestly believe that in some parts of the country people have started to mate with vegetables." But given that he lives (or lived) on the Isle of Man, you wouldn't think that Clarkson had to go all the way to Dixie to find that out... (no offence,
PiB - I'm talking about Peel people here...

Gotta agree with you on that one.
Its blatantly edited for better/funnier viewing.
I've a feeling the rednecks were real though. This is deep south US we are talking about here...

I just about ended myself when I saw this.
It was laddishness gone right! I find the show quite a laugh anyway and Clarkson does enjoy playing the wanker with a surprisingly good taste in music. He went up in my estimation a lot after watching this though. The 3 of them were hilarious throughout, but especially when they were car hunting at the start. Unfortunately, I think the Alabama rednecks were for real - either that or the bitch at the gas station was a great actor. Her first reaction when she saw them pull up was, "Are you gay?". Then she saw the "NASCAR SUCKS" grafitti and called the boys.
They looked pretty damn scared, although hell mend them - they must have had a good idea how people would react to a stunt like that. Still bloody funny though.

I never usually watch top gear, but i just happened to watch that one, it was great, a laugh all the way through! i am sure bits were edited to make it more funny, but that is to be expected. i bet they had fun filming (most) of that!
