NIN Glesga thi nicht

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

Now, now missus. I saw them at The Barras in '94 and was knocked sideways.

I'm not a big fan of The Barras either, in my day it was all Apollo round here.

I really prefer The Garage these days. I saw Type O there ;D

I saw NIN play Dublin in the early 90's .It was so disapointing that it pretty much put me of them completly.Mind you the new stuff sounds pretty good.

10 /10 from me :D , never seen them before but I was most impressed, it was a proper loud as f**k gig, no gimmicks, just a few lights and a totally professional Band who were right on the money for every song, a good mix of Old & New materiel, as Pat says, the Academy is not the best place to see a gig but that aside and despite my "Magical Mystery Tour" of Glesga and a slight altercation with a Guy in Partick who couldn't drive to save his pathetic life, it was a great night :D :notworthy: 8) :notworthy:

(random delurk).

I'm going tonight, though to be honest I'm not expecting much as the last Barrowlands show was just 'ok' rather than great, and the Academy is a much worse venue than the Barras :(

Unless of course it's The Charlatans playing and it turns out to be the best gig of your 39 years on this planet...or is that just me?
I've been to the Academy on 3 occasions so far and never had a bad night, mind it is just round the corner  :innocent:

It should be noted for the record that all the cool kids went to the second Glasgow gig.

Personally, I thought they delivered quite an impressive wall of sound. I understand the setlist was pretty different for the two nights - highlights for me were Terrible Lie, Reptile and the closer Head Like A Hole.

Sadly, there didn't seem to be much nubile young flesh on display. There I was, expecting full-on Industrial BDSM debauchery, only to find that I was probably the most outrageously dressed person there... Honestly, black T-shirts and leather jackets. Kids today.

And I was moderately (if genuinely) impressed with the support act Ladytron. A cross between Switchblade Symphony, Siouxsie, and a 21st century female-fronted Kraftwerk. Weird.

Saw them at the Eden Project and they were very good indeed - remarkably tight as a band, yet very human regardless of the amount of electronics on show.

If I may be allowed a moment of weakness, Mira's cute little dancing is a sight to behold. ;D

Oh, and you score 17 bonus CarpyPoints for mentioning Siouxsie. Well done !

Just reading up about the Avalanche-esque names they give to their four on-stage synthesizers - Babylon, Ulysses, Cleopatra and, erm ... Gloria. :notworthy:

I'm going to see NIN in Brum on Monday. I got offered 2 tickets to see them and told Hom Corleone that he could have the other one who was well chuffed, however..... the friend who said I could have his tickets now told me that there was only one available. How do I tell Hom that he can't go now :( :(

Aye, but he doesnae like her, the only word that I can possibly use at this juncture is FUD!:P

But I like the sound of this description a lot... I've not checked them out yet, thinking they'd sound like The Killers or something, I don't know why... :urff:

Check out their myspace page for a quick and easy Fix.

@ James - horses for courses, I guess. It would be a funny old world if we all got excited about the same things.
