canon docre wrote:James, may I recommend to you again the fine tunes Velvet Kevorkian and All Hail the New Flash by the one and only Strapping Young Lad? Nothing is heavier in this world.
Another definite must-have for your "Heavy as f**k" comp is surely the mighty Slayer and some personal favourites Samael with Rain and Shining Kingdom from their album Passage.
Never a truer word was said on these boards...
Sorry JAMES, but I cannot even START mentioning heavy choons, as the whole first 30 years of my life consisted of listening to ultra-heavy shi
t...
But the whole SYL album by the Strapping Young Lads is indeed heavy as feck (especially 'Relentless')...
Then... erm...
Winter - Goden (from Into Darkness)
My Dying Bride - Songs of Darkness... and the early 'Sear Me'
Paradise Lost - As I Die
Anathema - Sweet Tears
Samael - Worship Him
Emperor - Inno A Satana (sp?)
etc etc etc .... Cannibal Corpse, Morbid Angel, Slayer, Kreator, Testament, Dimmu Borgir, Cradle, Immortal, ... this is pointless
Oh, and since yesterday:
Ahráyeph - The Rain Suite!

Hüsker Dü (means "don't forget" in some Nordic language).
Wikipedia wrote:The name means "Do you remember?" in Danish and Norwegian.
I knew the first bit, just wasn't sure which language it was.

You want heavy as fuc.k? Try and track down a copy of The Hookers: Black Visions of Crimson Wisdom, it's fantastic. There's another record available by them called Satans Highway which is very different--more raw, drunken punk than the full on heavy as fuc.k metal you get on Black Visions. 'tis a shame I don't know where my copies of these records went.

I'm not massively into "heavy" music, but it's relative I guess. I'm no doubt a complete wuss if you're a serious metalhead, but to everyone else I probably do listen to a lot of Very Scary Noise
This is what I go for when I've had enough of all the Burt Bacharach...
SWANS - Filth (klang! klunk!)
Laibach - Jesus Christ Superstars
Arch Enemy - Anthems of Rebellion
Loits - Ei Kahetese Midagi
And occasionally some some pre-Black Album Malettica and assorted folk-influenced metal from the Baltic rim, but shhhh....

@IZ. seems we have the same music backround.
Come on, use your influence on Mr. Blast and compile him something which will squeeze his brain out of the ears.

But what is it your exactly looking or James?
Heavy music soundwise, Rock, metal, Doom
There are a few electronic acts mentioned, I wouldn’t consider them as heavy music myself…

May I recommend some Big Black? "The Power of Independent Trucking" would be a good place to start here.

Yeah, Big Black is a good choice. Also, Mush by Leatherface is quite good--sort of like Motorhead crossed with Husker Du, I guess.

err... well.. if Dr. Feelgood is the parameter, why don't you try out some Skid Row, Faster Pussycat, Motörhead, G n'R etc?
I personally don't see anything "heavy" in the Crüe, just plain kick-ass Rock N' Roll.

My favourite very hard thing is Boris - Absolutego.
Coincidentally, it meets Prog requirements as well lasting more than an hour

Or "Fish Fry" -
"The one who wouldn't go down on his brother's dead,
She's wearin' his bootprint on her forehead...
...Now I f**k you and I hit you with my shoe
And I hide your bloody body in Frenchtown pond."
