I indeed made the fatal error of channel hopping last night and stumbled upon, much to my amusement, Justin Hawkins on Top Gear ( well Comic Reliefs version of it anyway)

My sentiment that this event is used as platform for 'has been' and washed up 'celebs' desperately came bounding to the fore when this facially challenged dentists nightmare /dream come true filled my entire 32" screen.

Just 17 seconds of this gargoyle performance reinvigorated my ideal as to why his Butlin's style novelty act of a band disintegrated once the joke had worn thin and his solo career crashed and burned like Richard Hammond's driving.

I used to listen to a lot of heavy rock and saw a lot of the bog standard 'pub bands' that used to trawl through the Liverpool rock bar scene. And the Darkness, for all their prancing, mincing and play by numbers guitar solos where a perfect example of everything awful in that genre.

But once the office parties have emptied and the dj at the wedding has put the their records away - will the Darkness and Hawkins ever be remembered for anything other than by some secretaries who drunkenly air guitared to one of their songs whilst wearing a tie tied round their heads and some kids who danced to them at a school disco.

Me, I bid them good riddance, you've had your laugh got your face on t.v and cost a record company some where lots of cash. Now go back to working at your local Go Kart track.

Apologies to Emilystrange, but that band used to make my skin crawl :(

Rock On!!!

Seriously, apparently the school's never had a non-uniform day either. If they're trying to raise money, being rule-heavy bastards and asking for money from sponsored walks and things will not work, whereas 1800 students being told they're allowed to wear their own clothes for a quid WILL rake the cash in.
Idiot management staff.
We had a non-uniform day on RND, but it was to raise money for the school. Sneaky.

solo career dived? he hasn't had one. he just does what he likes cos he wants to, not cos of desperation or money. he did top gear cos he's mates with clarkson.
