This just reminds me of American Football's obsession with statistics, and the way they serve to detract from important stuff like who actually won the game. Maybe I've totally missed the point of American Football, though. 
Items like "loudness" are all pretty relative anyway. Take Poison Door. Yes, of all the versions of the songs that people will know from this point forwards, PD is probably the "loudest", but that's primarily because it's had the bejeezus compressed out of it on the CD reissue.
