Although I have "just" discovered the lyrics section, I have become connected to this topic and WILL continue it.

We've had Dominion, Flood I and Lucretia. Here come 1959, This Corrosion and Flood II.

Mind you, these lyrics are my interpretation; if I hear "she said" but the lyrics sheet says "she says" I note "she said."

1959

"Living as an angel in the place that I was born
Living on air
Living in heaven

Giving the lie down the line
To the
There’s my heaven

And I know
Which way the wind blows
In nine-teen fifty-nine
Which way the wind blows
In nine-teen fifty-nine

And the wind blows still
And the wind blows wild again
For a little child can never kill this clean
This way
And feels like me today
Tell me
Do you feel the same
Isabelle
Do you feel like nine-teen fifty-nine
Do you feel like nine-teen fifty-nine

And the wind blows wild again
And the wind blows wild
In nine-teen fifty-nine

In fifty-nine

Isabelle
Do you
Do you feel the same
Come with me
Like a little child
Like another gun
Like homeless restless known to none
Like way beyond belline
Like it never was in nine-teen fifty-nine"

Nothing special, but I do refuse to hear "way beyond the line". There is "b" between beyond and "e line" so I don't know what to note down but this.

This Corrosion

"Gimme the ring, kissed and told
Gimme something that I missed
Gimme the ring
A hand to hold
Wild and what it seems
Gimme the ring
Kill the king when love is the law
And the wheel turn round
Gimme the ring
Gimme, dream child and do you hear me call
Gimme the ring
On the lone and on the level
But still on the floor
Gimme the ring
Sing dream child and do you hear at all

Sing
Sing

Hey now, hey now now
Sing this corrosion to me
Hey now, hey now now
Sing this corrosion to me
Hey now, hey now now
Sing this corrosion to me
Hey now, hey now now

Sing
Sing

Hey now, hey now now
Sing this corrosion to me
Hey now, hey now now
Sing this corrosion to me
Hey now, hey now now
Sing this corrosion to me
Hey now, hey now now

Hey
Hey, hey
Hey
Hey, hey
Hey
Hey, hey
Hey
Hey, hey

Hey hey hey the hey, now now now now
Hey hey hey the hey, now now now now
Hey hey hey the hey, now now now now
Gimme siren child and do you hear me
Gimme siren child and do you hear me call
Sing, child of right and wrong
Gimme things that don’t last long
Gimme siren child and do you hear me call

Sing
Sing

Hey now, hey now now
Sing this corrosion to me
Hey now, hey now now
Sing this corrosion to me
Hey now, hey now now
Sing this corrosion to me
Hey now, hey now now

On days
Like this
In times like these
I feel
An animal deep inside
Heel to haunch on bended knees
Living on if I, and if I tried somebody
Send me please
Dream, wars and a ticket to seem
Giving the out and in
Selling the don’t belong
Well, what do you say
‘dye have a word for giving away
Got a song for me

Sing
Sing

Hey now, hey now now
Sing this corrosion to me
Hey now, hey now now
Sing this corrosion to me
Hey now, hey now now
Sing this corrosion to me
Hey now, hey now now

Singing…like a healing

Hey now, hey now now
Sing this corrosion to me
Hey now, hey now now
Sing this corrosion to me
Hey now, hey now now
Sing this corrosion to me
Hey now, hey now now

I got nothing to say I ain’t said before
I bled all I can, I won’t bleed no more
I don’t need no-one to understand
Why the blood run hold
The highered hand on hearts
Hand of God
Floodland and Driven apart, run cold
Turn
Cold, burn like a healing hand

Hey now, hey now now
Sing this corrosion to me
Like a healing hand
Hey now, hey now now
Sing this corrosion to me
Like a healing hand
Hey now, hey now now
Sing this corrosion to me
Like a healing hand
Hey now, hey now now

Hey now, hey now now
Burn
Like a healing hand
Hey now, hey now now
Sing this corrosion to me
Like a healing hand
Hey now, now
Sing this corrosion to me
Hey now, hey now now
Sing this corrosion to me
Like a healing hand

This was a horrible one to do :urff:

Andrew has a lot of puns here, but I wrote down what I hear. So no "toll'd", "we'll", or "daze", but "told", "wheel" and "days". I did hear "highered", though.

A few times in between the main lyric the chorus sings
"Hey
Hey, hey"
In the first part, and after that all sing
"Hey hey hey the hey, now now now now"
a few times.

At 6:36 Andrew says "Singing...like a healing..."

And after that... an astounishing THIRTY TIMES the line
"Hey now, hey now now
Sing this corrosion to me
Like a healing hand"
Comes past, with a few exceptions. Only beaten by "Heartland" ;P
But this line is much longer.

The exceptions are that a few times at rather random moments, the line changes to
"Hey now, hey now now
Like a healing hand"
and
"Hey now, hey now now
Burn" or
"Hey now now
Burn"
.

Flood II

"And her hallway
Moves
Like the ocean
Moves
Her hallway moves
Like the sea
Like the sea

She says no no no no harm will come your way
She said to bring it on now
Bring on the wave
She said nobody done no harm
Grace of God and raise your arms she says
Face it and it’s a place to stay

This, this is the way it is
This, this the way it was
When the water come rushing, rushing in

She says
She says anytime
Raise your arms
Flood

In your hallway

Like
Like
Like a million voices call my name
Like a million voices calling
Not now not never again
Sitting here now in this bar for hours
Strange men rent strange flowers
Seconds to the drop but it feels like hours and I think I’m going to, going to stay
This, this is the way it is
This, this the way it was
When the water come rushing, rushing in

She says
She says anytime
Raise your arms
Flood

And her hallway

She says
She says anytime
Raise your arms
Flood

And her hallway

My hallway

My mercy

My hallway

When

My hope

My hallway

When

When

My mercy

My hallway

My mercy

Bye"

This is a very good one.

Note "She said nobody done no harm" and
"She said to bring it on now"
He really doesn't say "says"or "down'.

SHOCKING! At 2:26 Andrew doesn't say "And her hallway"
But the most obscene "In your hallway" !

Most lyrics sheets miss
"Seconds to the drop but it feels like hours and I think I’m going to I’m going to stay"
While it is very easy to hear.

And at the end, the last lyrics. No list gives these, but you can hear them.
After the last
"She says
She says anytime
Raise your arms
Flood

And her hallway"

One can hear, free to interpretation:

"My hallway

My mercy

My hallway

When

My hope

My hallway

When

When

My mercy

My hallway

My mercy"

And just when you think it's over, it's not ;P
Big surprise! Andrew is a gentlemen and at the end of the majestic Flood twins treats us to a well-deserved
"Bye"
Really! Turn your volume up too the utter maximum at the very last seconds! He does say it :)

More to come.

Do give me that title! ;P

Another two now, and finally we arrive at the end of the Floodland lyrics. I do not count Torch and Colours with this album for chronological reasons.

Driven Like the Snow:

"Still night, nothing for miles
A white curtain coming down
Kill the lights in the middle of the road and take a, take a look around
It don’t help to be one of the chosen
One of the few to be sure
When the wheels are spinning around
And the ground is frozen through

And you’re driven, like the snow
Pure women heart
Driven together

And given away to the West
A white dress
‘till the river don’t run
A black dress
Looking like mine ‘till the sun don’t shine no more
Where the sky meet the ground
Where the street fold round
Where the voice you hold don’t make no sound, look
Snow on the river and two by two
Took a lot to live a lot like you
I don’t go there now but I hear they sung their
“Fuck me and marry me young
Some wild idea and a big white bed, now
You know better than that, I said
Like a voice in the wind blow little crystal …
Like brittle things will break before they turn
Live lipstick on my cigarette
And the ice get harder overhead
Like think it twice but never, never learn

And the mist will wrap around us
And the crystal if you touch it

And the cars
Lost in the drift are there
And the people that drive
Lost in the drift are there
And the cares I’ve
Lost in the drift are there

Theirs, ours, lost in the drift are, are, are, are, are
Driven
Driven together
And driven apart"

Well. When it comes to beauty, I think Driven Like the Snow is the absolute top the Sisters have ever made. Both the lyrics and the music. Not my personal lyric fave tho, that's Dominion.
Driven also is the only long song that has not a single repeated line. Quite an achievement, I bet Andrew spent a long time making these up.

- I hear "A white curtain coming down". Very, very hard to tell, can really be both, since the beginning "w" sounds like an "a" too.

- "Kill the lights in the middle of the road and take a, take a look around". rather simple, but doesn't show on most lyric databases.

- "Pure women heart" :? what the...
I did hear it. repeated it over 20 times, he really has something like an
"m" between "Pure" and "in", which I can only interpret as "women".

- "Like a voice in the wind blow little crystal …" You can't really hear anything after "crystal". No crystals, no "down". I don't hear anything but a truly inaudible mumble, really too low to hear. So make this "blow little crystal ...".

- "Live lipstick on my cigarette" YUCK! Live lipstick? :| only thing I can make of that is the fact that lipstick is produced from [FACT] squashed leeces' body fluids, which gives the distinct red colour. So Andrew has leeces on his cigarette. Right... (this must sound really crazy )
He really doesn't even try to say "like", he just says "live"...

- Finally, the five times "are" instead of once.

Never Land (a fragment)

"I had a face on the mirror
I had a hand on the gun
I had a place in the sun
I had a ticket to Syria
I had it everything within my reach
Had money and stuff
Each and every call
Too much but never enough
Tear it up and watch it fall"

Even in this itty-bitty piece of text I found something. ;P
"I had it everything within my reach".
Andrew puts some kind of "t" between, it's there, which sounds like "it".
Too fast to really hear it, but it's there.

More to come! FALAA next time.

Nope, it isn't but you are right about the "going to", on another listen I hear he indeed doesn't say "I'm going to". But he does say "stay", give it a listen.

Black Planet

"In the western sky
My kingdom come

So still
So dark all over Europe
And I ride down the highway one-o-one
By the side of the ocean headed for sunset
For the kingdom come
For the black, black planet
Black world
Black, black planet
Black world

Run around in the radiation
Run around in the acid rain
On a black, black planet
Black planet hanging over the highway
Out of my mind’s eye
Out of the memory
Black world, out of my mind
So still
So dark all over Europe
And the rainbow rises here
In the western sky the kill to show for
At the end of the great white peer I see a
Black, black planet
Black world
Black, black planet
Black world

Run around in the radiation
Tune in
Turn on
Burn out in the acid rain, on a
Black, black planet
Black world
Black, black planet
Black world
Black, black planet
Black world
Black, black planet
Black world
Black, black planet
Black world
Black, black planet
Black world
Black, black planet
Black world
Black, black planet
Black world"

Well, first and last and always. Much harder to hear what Andrew is saying, shouldve worked on his pronounciation back then.
Black Planet is a nice example of the contrary: the lyrics are perfectly put into every lyrics database and are rather clear. Nothing to say here, except the way the words are divided over the lines, where some use
"Black
Black Planet
Black World"

whereas I prefer
"Black, Black Planet
Black World".

Walk Away

"And in the summer when the clouds show through
I might go the same way too if you and I could talk together
Well what am I s´posed to do with you and I would walk together then
With always close surrounding now you gaze toward the doorway
When the weather comes falling down

And when the rain comes down
Would you choose to walk or stay
Would you choose to walk, would you choose to stay
Would you walk, walk, walk, walk, walk away
Away
Away
Away
Away
Away
Away
Away
Walk away
Away
Would you choose to walk away

And when the rain comes down
Would you choose to walk or stay
Would you choose to walk, would you choose to stay
Would you walk, walk, walk, walk, walk away though when the day is nearly through or not see the same way too
If you would name the things that bring you down on me so I could say it’s not
Quite true if you don’t really know or understand the circumstance
Behind then I might clear your mind these you won’t have to go so
So when the rain comes down
Would you choose to walk or stay
Would you choose to walk, would you choose to stay
Would you walk, walk, walk, walk, walk away
Away
Away
Away
Away

Would you choose to walk away choose to walk away
Away
Away"

Oh man. This was a total masterpiece. The way Andrew pronounces his lyics here deserves a medal, both for bad pronounciation as for masterly designed pronounciation. he says everything in such a way that you can interprete them as two entirely different lines! remember flood I, eotunun?
Well, this is the living example of that way of pronouncing things.. Here we go:

-"I might go the same way too if/with you and I could talk together"
He says either with or if, making it
"I might go the same way too with you, if I could talk together" or
"I might go the same way too, if you and I could talk together".

-One line later he does the same thing in reverse!
"Well what am I s´posed to do with/if you and I would walk together"
Now it could be
"Well what am I s´posed to do with you, and I would walk together" or
"Well what am I s´posed to do, if you and I would walk together".
It's amazing!

-But here comes the true masterpiece. I spent over half an hour only figuring this one out.
"then, with always close surrounding" is what I made of it finally. But the variations are: when/then, with/we've, close/go/goes, surround/around,
around in/surrounding.
It's so brilliant I was stunned when I realised it. There just no way you can hear the difference. Andrew says the words in such a way that it can truly be interpreted as both! If more songs are gonna be like this...wow.
The variations make the line one of these possibilities:
"When with always goes around in" or
"When with always go surrounding" or
"When with always goes surrounding" or
"When with always close surrounding" or
"When with always close around in" or
"When we’ve always goes around in" or
"When we’ve always go surrounding" or
"When we’ve always goes surrounding" or
"When we’ve always close surrounding" or
"When we’ve always close around in" or
"Then with always goes around in" or
"Then with always go surrounding" or
"Then with always goes surrounding" or
"Then with always close surrounding" or
"Then with always close around in" or
"Then we’ve always goes around in" or
"Then we’ve always go surrounding" or
"Then we’ve always goes surrounding" or
"Then we’ve always close surrounding" or
"Then we’ve always close around in".

:urff:

- "now you gaze toward/to walk the doorway"
Probably just "toward" but it can, again, be both.

-The times he says "Awaaaaaaaaaaaay" are not easy to hear but upon close listening we can hear
"Would you walk, walk, walk, walk, walk away
Away
Away
Away
Away
Away
Away
Away
Walk away
Away
Would you choose to walk away"

the first time and
"Would you walk, walk, walk, walk, walk away
Away
Away
Away
Away

Would you choose to walk away choose to walk away
Away
Away"

the second time.

-"Would you walk, walk, walk, walk, walk away though/go"
try hearing the difference. It's hard.

-Here I can confirm that the lyrics database is wrong:
"when the day is nearly through or not see the same way too"
Not a chance of him saying "I might" instead of "or not" he really says "or
not, here it's easy to hear.

-"If you would name the things/phase that bring you down on me"
a very nice one, he again makes it hard to tell which it is.

-"so I could say it’s not Quite/when true"
I heard "when" on my first listen and although I later found the "ui" vowel
to be correct, it'still hard to tell the difference, even though the words are
very different.

-"if you don’t really know or/no more understand the circumstance"
another hard one to tell: "know or" or "no more"

- "understand the circumstance behind then/them I might clear your mind"
a very nice one again: "understand the circumstance behind them" or
"understand the circumstance behind, then I might clear your mind"

-"I might clear your mind these/and you won’t have to go so"
a pair of strange words... although all lyric databases say it's "and"
it's pretty easy to hear it's certainly not "and", and probably "these",
although he says it so softly it's hard to tell. Same goes for "so", because
Andrew puts so much pressure on the word we can hardly hear him
saying anything. It does sound most like "so" though.

Phew! ;D Walk Away was a very good one to practise one and show the benefits of Extreme Lyrics Fishing!

More to come!

(And I don't care if you call me insane, it's fun and reveals a lot about how
the Sisters make brilliant lyrics for their songs.)

If you mean those little books you get with the remastered Floodland and FALAA, they're wrong when it comes to what Eldritch actually sings.

2 new ones:

No Time to Cry

"It’s just a feeling
I get sometimes
A feeling
Sometimes
And I get frightened
Just like you
I get frightened too
But it’s

No, no, no
No time for heartache
No, no, no
No time to run and hide
No, no ,no
No time for breaking down
No, no, no, no, no
No time to cry

Sometimes in the world as is you’ve got to shake the hand that feeds you
It’s just like Adam says it’s not so hard to understand it’s
Just like always calling down on, just like Jesus never came and
What did you expect to find
It’s just like always, hear again it’s

No, no, no
No time for heartache
No, no, no
No time to run and hide
No, no ,no
No time for breaking down
No, no, no, no, no
No time to cry

Everything will be alright
Everything will turn out fine
Some nights I still can’t sleep and the voices pass with time and I keep
Everything will be alright
Everything will turn out fine
Some nights I still can’t sleep and the voices pass with time and I keep
No time for tears
No time to run and hide
No time to be afraid of fear I keep no time to cry, it’s

No, no, no
No time for heartache
No, no, no
No time to run and hide
No, no ,no
No time for breaking down
No, no, no, no, no
No time to cry"

These two were quite well audible, but not perfect, as is shown by these corrections:

-"Just like always calling down on". Lyric database says it's "coming", but I listened carefully; it's not.

-"It’s just like always, hear again it’s". Personal opinion, since
"hear" and "here" sound exactly the same, but "hear again, it's no time
for heartache" sounds more logical than "Just like always here again,
it's...".

-"No, no, no
No time for heartache
No, no, no
No time to run and hide
No, no ,no
No time for breaking down
No, no, no, no, no
No time to cry"

Just a detail, there are 3x "no" in the first 3 times, then 5x "no" before
"No time to cry".

- and lastly:
"No time to be afraid of fear I keep no time to cry, it’s
No, no, no
No time for heartache"

if you listen very carefully you can spot the "it's" Andrew whispers quickly

A Rock and a Hard Place

"And she came to look for me
Sold me name and innocence
Took my key
And told me to follow her down from Igor with her bangles and her reference
Slow from the church, from the valley of the
When she wanted a haven and a place to hide
So I gave her an alibi, took her inside

But a rock and a hard place wait for me
Between the devil and the deep blue sea
Everything I ever did right or wrong hid out of sight
Where I belong
Belong

And I didn’t have the heart to tell her why
And there wasn’t a part of me that didn’t want to say goodbye but
Cause and effect go hand in hand
With the devil maybe care but I don’t mind
And I thought she’d never quite understand so I lettered her that night
And will she find me
I don’t think so no
When you go, you go alone…
The long gone

Far away

Far away

Far away

Far away

And I didn’t have the heart to tell her why
And there wasn’t a part of me that didn’t want to say goodbye but
A rock and a hard place wait for me
Between the devil and the deep blue sea
Everything I ever did right or wrong hid out of sight
Where I belong
A rock and a hard place wait for me
Between the devil and the deep blue sea
Everything I ever did right or wrong hid out of sight
Where I belong
A rock and a hard place wait for me
Between the devil and the deep blue sea
Everything I ever did right or wrong hid out of sight
Where I belong
A rock and a hard place"

- "follow her down from Igor with her bangles and her reference".
This is a vry, very weird line, the first time I heard it I could only make it
"follow, but how come people with the bangles ever riddlement"
Rather hard do discern what it actually is.

- "Slow from the church, from the valley of the".
Lyric database says "One/Into the church" and "valley above/of love"
I couldn't really hear it either so I chose for another one suggested
by a lyrics site: "of the".

-"with the devil maybe care". Hard to hear what he says after "devil",
is it "may" or "maybe" or something else? Sounded most like "maybe".

-"so I lettered her that night" this was a very hard one; all lyrics sites say
"so I left her there that night" which sounds better but is, unfortunately,
wrong, because we can hear no "è" in "left her there" which makes
it an "ê" as in "lettered her"

- and finally: "When you go, you go alone…The long gone"
sites say "And I'm gone" which it really doesn't sound like.
"The long gone" sounds better anyway.

There will be more, don't worry ;D
