Not Available , Leeds, LS1 3AJ
Cost :

All Will Be Revealed Soon
That postcode is for 57 great george street, which is the address of "jazzwank" records. Jazzwank is owned by one Simon Denbigh!

Rosey Lugosi also seems to be in on the project as she is refusing to reveal anything before the official myspace does, but extends the offer of being in the long black hair video.

Thats simon and rosie. Tom's multiverse is in the top friends of the myspace (as is Clan of Xymox, who Tom played with for a while), so one assumes he's in.

We are cooking with STEEEEEEEEEAM

Is it me or is the March Violets reforming more exciting than anything the Sisters have done for years.
Rosie should wear her vampire outfit.

Leeds is not that big a city.
If there's no crowd at 19:45 at the Cockpit, it's the Met, right?
Get a bus and get going.
If there's a crowd at each, then, erm.. ImageImage

Do you want to be in a video? (long black hair and female applicants only need apply)

Posted: 23 Oct 2007, 20:48
by Brideoffrankenstein
Tom said would I plug their new video so here goes! (for those of you who haven't seen the bulletin on MySpace)

We are looking for people to be in a video for a new track called Long Black Hair.

You have to:
1. be of the fairer sex (in the loosest sense) ie: female.
2. have long black hair.
3. film yourself (or get someone to film you) shaking the aforementioned hair to 45 seconds of the track.
4. send the clip to us.

The track is on our myspace site player, and you can download it too. It is not the full track, or even a good version of the track, just something for you to shake your hair along to. It is at 120 bpm, please don't slow it down or speed it up during filming.

We want girls of any size or age, as long as they have long black hair.
Obviously... rubber, leather, tattoos, piercings and exposed flesh are all considered acceptable bonuses but not totally necessary. Style and movement are definitely important, and we will be featuring a few of what we consider the best clips in more prominent positions in the video.
If you could make sure that you have a light (white is best) or dark (black is best) background behind you we would appreciate it.
Multiple headbanging is acceptable as long as everyone has long black hair... the more the merrier.

We are happy to accept video clips done on a mobile phone, or a video camera.
We prefer mpeg1 or mpeg2 files, but anything will do.

IMPORTANT: Please make sure that you attach your name to the clip (the easiest way is to rename it with your name plus a random 4 digit number to make sure there are no duplicates ie: RosieLugosi1488) as we will be showing your name with the clip on the video and in the end credits...Don't worry, we'll take the last 4 numbers back off.

The easiest way to do this is to go to our website at http://longblackhairvideo.marchviolets.us and either drag and drop your file into the box, or copy and paste it there.

Or you could attach it to an email and send it to videoclips@marchviolets.com (not bigger than 10 meg total size though)

If you are having trouble sending us your clip we suggest going to the nearest internet cafe and asking for help. Or now might actually be the time to befriend that Geek.

If you have access to high quality video equipment, and want to send us something that will be a BIG file, please stick it on a CD/DVD and post it to us at

Studio 247
57 Great George Street
Leeds
LS1 3AJ
UK

Please Note:
By sending us your video clip you will be giving us permission to use it how we want. If you can't agree to this PLEASE DO NOT SEND IT. There will not be any payment for any use of the clip... sorry. You will however probably be in a mighty groovy video, and we want to set a record for the most number of headbanging ladies in a video, so will be sending it to the Guinness Book of World Records.
Please tell your hairy friends.

Actually that's not true, after seeing this post I emailed Loz to see if he's involved and apparently despite wanting to be, Simon is still pissed with him for kicking him out in 1984. So could have been the full crew if Simon would grow up a bit.

Thats a shame. There's nothing that can be done?

Sitting down and talking about it like adults?

Seriously, what's done is done, and there's nothing to be gained from persisting with grudges. If Loz has been willing to offer peace, then at the very least he deserves a hearing out.

On Saturday December 8th 2007 The March Violets play their first gig since the 1980s, featuring the original line-up of Si Denbigh, Rosie Garland and Tom Ashton.

We deliberately went for a Saturday to make it better for those of you who actually work or who are thinking of travelling. … see… we still love you!

Tickets will be available very soon.

There are 1000 tickets, no more. They will be initially be available via the Myspace page http://www.myspace.com/officialmarchviolets with other outlets to follow.

* Travel to Leeds

AIR

Leeds – Bradford Airport is 11 miles from the city centre of Leeds.

www.lbia.co.uk

There is a regular express coach link from the airport to the city centre –

Leeds Airport Airlink 757. It arrives and departs from Leeds Coach Station (see below).

Jet2 is the main cheap carrier from Europe into Leeds-Bradford airport (and Manchester Airport).

http://www.jet2.com/

Another option is to fly into Doncaster Airport (45 mins by car from Leeds). Cheap carriers are RYANAIR ( from Dublin) & FLYBE (from Belfast City).
www.robinhoodairport.com

.. or even consider EasyJet, who have cheap flights into Liverpool Airport & London Heathrow /Gatwick, then get Megabus to Leeds (see below)
http://www.easyjet.com/

There are lots of other options for very cheap flights from Europe to Manchester and other cities. Trains to Leeds from Manchester are pretty cheap.

COACH AND BUS

Leeds coach station is situated on Dyer Street LS2 7LA, south of Kirkgate market in the city centre.

You can get really cheap buses to Leeds on Megabus, available on these routes:

Leeds-Sheffield-Chesterfield-London
Newcastle-Leeds-London

Tickets can be ordered online at:

http://www.megabus.com/uk/
Or on the booking hotline 0900 160 0900 (60p per minute).

TRAIN

Leeds central train station is situated on Wellington Street, LS1 4BX

There is a free City Centre bus running from the train station to the Metropolitan University, but this ONLY runs up till 7.30pm on Saturdays.

Outside the station entrance there are bus stands, including the 95 route, which goes past the Met University & costs £1.

It's about a 5 to 10 minute walk to the Leeds Met (slightly uphill)

TAXI

Most Leeds taxis have to be booked in advance.

However, Leeds does have a taxi service you can hail on the street (hackney carriages). They are white with a black bonnet (hood) and have a yellow light on the roof. There is a taxi rank right outside the train station entrance.

Other taxi numbers:

Don't forget that the gig finishes at 3am. On a Saturday… a really busy time in Leeds.

And don't get into any unmarked "taxi cabs" they do tend to operate on weekends and are not safe. Taxi prices are always more expensive at weekends.

* Accommodation

Saturday 8th December is a busy time as it is on the run-up to Xmas, and hotels get booked up quickly.

Leeds has a variety of city centre hotels, bed & breakfasts, and hostel accommodation.

These can be booked through the: 'Gateway Yorkshire' booking service on 0800 80 80 50.

We suggest that if you know anyone in Leeds you could ask to stay, or just wait around for 4hrs till 7am when all buses and trains should be running. However, for those who need it, here is a list of Hotels near Leeds Met University:

The gig finishes at 3am so we wanted to list hotels that are a relatively easy stagger from the Gig, the rest are a taxi ride (though it is 3am on a Saturday/Sunday....might be a bit of a wait) or a bus ride if they are running at that time.

There are plenty of hotels in the city, we recommend the obvious ones which are walkable (and downhill) from the Met..... the Novotel, Ibis, Marriott, Hilton and Radisson. These are by no means cheap (but weekend rates are usually more reasonable, always ask, you never know). In particular The Golden Lion on Lower Briggate has catered for the Beyond the Veil festivals so is used to slightly different looking clientele (and might give a good rate).

All these and more can be found at:

http://www.laterooms.com/en/k16294317_leeds-hotels.aspx

just put in the date and search, and then hit the miles button to get them in a list of nearness to the gig.
