Heartlanders on the tellybox

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

I've always quite fancied it just for the Dracula connection
I'm not even a dodgy g*th anymore ( :P ;)), yet watching that brief vid's suddenly instilled in me a desire to see this Whitby place (and its 5000 or so black-clad pilgrims) in person. Dammit! :von:
It's only like that twice a year, the rest of the time it's farmer's, fishermen, bobble hatted "a brisk walk in the country" tourists, the odd hairy biker and lots, and lots of Neds :urff:

First off, that's not "relaxed," it's simply "mad." :P Secondly, I should probably have specified "relaxed *speaking in front of* a camera," like our lovely Mrs. RJ.

taking this thread further, what other HLers have appeared on the idiot box at some time or other? what on, when and why?

my personal "career":
in the crowd on an "it's a knockout!" (jeux sans frontiers for the mainlanders).
l
ess than 30 seconds as an extra in some bbc drama they shot at our sixth form. got paid £80 and as much outside-catering as i could eat for sitting around for three days for that.

being interviewed by local news as "new age traveller" after they'd finally got rid of us after four years. look uber-crusty and slightly psychotic (that'll have been the drugs then.)
Well I was handsome and I was strong

During the flood of river Rhine christmas '93 and february '95 I was on local TV a couple of times, wearing my silly grey THW uniform and looking pretty messy. But very profesional as well.
That was at Bonn, right shoreline of the river. Has anyone seen me?

Man-on-the-street spot for RDF in Cologne in 1991(?) talking about the coup in Russia (Boris Yeltsin and the storming of the White House in Moscow).

BBC interview following 9/11 on the British ex-pat reaction to the attack on the WTC.

NY1 interview about abortion - I was reverse-picketing a clinic (shielding people going in and out from the idiots standing around yelling "murderer!" and carrying signs saying "It's a child, not a choice").

I've been a black shape in the blurred distance at a couple of talk shows and nearly participated in one myself. That was killed off after the pilot though because it proved to be unsaleable

I was visible in the crowd on Top of the Pops in 1986/7 (I think) where I had the "privilege" of watching Level 42 and, wait for it, 5-Star strut their funky stuff.

They even played a bit of the video of Europe's Final Countdown (which was wobbling its way down the charts).

It's all a bit blurry :urff:

Channel 4 (or was it BBC2?), some Irish trad show I went to cos a friend was looking for "bums on seats" to make up a good crowd for the telly. There was a brief shot of me heading into the gents.

All a blur too, but that was the alcohol more than the amount of time ago!

On Dutch local television my band was interviewed for an item they wanted to do about goff music. The result was quite nice: interview + live footage packed in a nice storyboard ...

In Zottegem there was a guy running around with a camera... questions where we came from, what band we wanted to see (*G*) etc ...
