I've heard something similar myself (a mate who's still in the RM and now a major) but regarding things going tits up in Pakistan. Still, who knows for sure with the rumors and counter rumors flying around all over the place?

True. It's more an order of magnitude thing though:

Afghanistan - really stupid.

Iraq - completely stupid.

Iran - utterly stupid.
