Hmmm, maybe but there are other thoughts that occupy my brain so it's not continuous. But the love part is.
And it's the continuity of that love that brings your thoughts back to that particular person. (I must point out that I only see obsession as a negative thing when taken to extremes, but that's pretty much the same with anything really). Obsession is what infatuation turns into (maybe "matures" would be a better word?) and keeps the feelings strong enough to last the distance.

Yeah I'll agree with you in the continuity thing. Obsession can indeed be a positive or negative thing. Infatuation in a mature sense will keep feelings strong enough to last through any thing really. And if it's not about love I can think of a few things that might be meant.

Okay so that was an interview from 1988, still it wasn't an end for TSOM. Maybe a new era with different people but still they carried on...
