THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

Hi All!

As the guy who found the link and stayed up 'til 5AM trying to find the exact bl**dy picture can I propose this -

http://dev.an00.net/ngs/page.php?n=40&i ... gelist=All

Image

Image

It is Angkor Wat in cambodia, it looks a lot more similar what with all the vegetation and was featured in Tomb Raider.

Image

Image

The carved faces look very similar to the face near the top on the EP cover - maybe there was a free poster with the magazine?

Image

Maybe AE was inspired by the photos and made his own painting?

and to quote 1959 and all that:
Eye of Horus
The main image on the sleeve of Vision Thing is the familiar Egyptian symbol, the `Eye of Horus'. Whilst numerous occult symbolisms might be associated with it, the primary meaning is probably just a visual pun on the concept(s) of `vision'. It might also be noted that the image is manipulated to look as though it is filtered via TV scan lines. Interestingly enough it is also topologically rather reminiscent of a handgun.

Background image
A picture of a city is faintly visible on the sleeve; this is seen to best effect on the vinyl version of the album. Various cities have thus far been `definitively' cited as the one depicted.

I think I found the correct image, but it's tiny!!

I can't seem to send the the link of the image... so here's how I found it:

http://ww.google.com
Click on 'Image', then search for 'angkormonks'.

The site who had the image seem to have deleted the image, so we can't see the bigger version.

Haha, thank you.
By the way, we were bidding against each other on Ebay yesterday - *unmasks himself* - 'yes, I am the dreaded Veldtjynx!'

For the scrapbook. I got it in the end, after being pushed up very close to my limit by some young whippersnappers! But as I said, all's fair on Ebay, I guess!

I think it's definitely it!

Check out the layout of the steps leading up about two thirds of the way scross the bottom edge, there's even the same little group of people at the top of them. The roof-type-thing on the arch above them is identical too. At the left edge, the columns are the same. The only real difference is that there seems to be a piece of statuary or something in the foreground on the right-hand side of the RH photo (in front of the saffron robed monks), but this can be explained by differences in perspective and range.

Anyway, for the sake of comparison, I've made the following available: http://www.esatclear.ie/~mhiney

Well, I did find some detailed maps for you while I was rooting around looking for an enlarged one meself!
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.
