i think that we'll even take the weekend train ticket to go back.

costs 39 EUR and is valid for one day / 5 persons, so only 7,80 EUR for everyone :D

but the journey is a bit longer, between 3,45 - 4 hours.

dunno yet how many we are, but i'll keep you informed here. there is no advance-booking needed for the weekend ticket, price stays the same.

EDIT: just realized the gig is on a saturday, so weekend ticket can be used even for both ways. makes less than 16 EUR for each traveller (return). sounds good, eh?

Does it really take that long? Berlin - Dresden is 194 km only (according to Google maps)

Just for showing the difference:
Hannover - Berlin is 291 km and the train runs 1:37 hrs only.
OK - there's a West German city involved ;-)

Ausbau B - DD wäre vielleicht mal was für Angies Konjunkturpaket.

Well, isn't that because the weekend ticket only allows you to go by regional trains, with change of trains in Elsterwerda or some other metropolis?

You have to suffer a bit if you're going cheap, right?

I think so. When you do not take the ICE train for the Hannover - Berlin trip it takes ages as well.

compared to the fastest not weekend-ticket-compatible train connection (2:39 with EC) the fastest weekend-ticket-connection (3:37, RE, RB) is quite fast, actually!

Copy and paste from the Dresden thread:
I'd be glad to join. :D But I assume the 5 persons must travel together at the very same train, so the question is:
a) do we go to the afterparty in Berlin and keep on partying till the first train at dawn, and then sleep during the day in each one's preferred hotel in Dresden, or
b) do we leave the afterparty in Berlin sometime at night, go to sleep in each one's preferred hotel in Berlin, and then catch an afternoon train to Dresden?
If anybody's looking for a fifth person for option a), I'd be happy to do it. I've done stuff like that before, so no problem.
But b) is OK too. :D

As I also postd in Dresden thread, I'd be up for joining the train group as well. Is anyone still looking for a hotel in Berlin? This one looks promising. It's damn near the venue(s), isn't too expensive and also offers group discounts. Anyone fancy it?

Hotel Columbia! Oh dear - I stayed there in 1990 on a school trip. Strange days. The wall was still standing (perforated already though), the russians were still in East Germany etc... I think there is no other hotel closer to the Columbia Halle - which was a cinema for US forces at the time. However, I chose the etap Hotel in Anhalter Str. Not far away from Potsdamer Platz - which was a meadow with the remains of Hitlers bunker closeby at the time.

Sorry for the retrospection, just had a flash back. It is incredible how much the city has changed since those days...

No problem Christian  Was the hotel any good though? I'm now thinking of that awful hotel in Munich during the 2003 tour. I think it was Haus International and it was full of school parties with the older girls being chatted up by undesirable types hanging around the entrance. The whole place seemed like one big prison for school groups :urff:

I'm afraid I can't tell anything about the quality of the hotel nowadays. I stayed there in early 1990... and that time the rooms were OK but it were mainly school classes who booked the hotel.

Not so bad hotel is Pension Kreuzberg http://www.pension-kreuzberg.de/, I slept there in 2006 (not with all the girls in Berlin, of course  ) and it was quite good and for reasonable price. Now booked again...

Hesitating about expediton by that fabulous regional trains - is it for 5 only, or at least 5?

hmhm, danke for info, probably not-so-easy to manage it. Didn't checked advantages for return ticket Prague-Berlin-Dresden-Prague yet, will let it float in my mind. Just for case: is there some prefered train? Maybe too soon...

Did find this, with that favourite Elsterwerda change:

Berlin Südkreuz 11:35
Elsterwerda 13:32 13:45
Dresden Hbf 14:46

I am heading to Europe from Australia in early Feb and will still be in Berlin at the time of this concert ^^

This may be a stupid question, but have the Berlin tickets sold out? or are they yet to go on sale?

I have checked the columbiahalle website but they are not available:
http://www.kartenhaus.de/index.cfm?Acti ... umbiahalle

Any advice???

I'm planning to go all around Europe for a few months, then settle in the UK, so am hoping to get to as many shows as I can along the way! This will be my first time seeing The Sisters live!

I have considered planning my itinerary around the concert dates ;)

Berlin is sold out indeed. If you are in the city anyway: be at the venue in time and try to get a ticket on the street. Chances are not bad I'd say.

Or go to Dresden the next. The city is not far away from Berlin (see Dresden threat).

No, there are still tickets left both at http://www.eventim.de and http://www.getgo.de

If nothing strange has happened to Columbiahalle, the venue swallows 3500 - there's no way in hell they are going to sell out Berlin.

(Otherwise you'll see me wandering along Columbiadamm in search of an overpriced ticket ;D )

Seems like a rip-off at first sight, but it's a) two tickets and b) an outrageous shipping fee of more than 30 euros if you order from Germany to the UK :!: ...so they are practically selling for what they paid for them including shipping.

Thanks euphoria! I've just checked both sites, and they charge an insane amount to ship the tickets to Australia (more than the actual ticket price!)

So do you think I could buy a ticket on the door??
Does Eventim or Getgo have actual stores where tickets can be purchased also? I'll be in Berlin from the 11th Feb so may get one after I arrive.

If not I'll be wandering along Columbiadamm also haha!

No probs Christian, I had heard that Hamburg and Cologne had sold out, but had not heard anything about Berlin so was freaking out when there was no tickets on the columbiahalle site.

I'm considering going to Dresden also. I want to visit the city, seems like the perfect time!!

if someone still needs a ticket for berlin / any other german date that is not sold out yet:

i can buy one / more for you if you have a paypal account and send me the mony in advance. you'll save a lot of shipping costs.

there are enough people here who can prove that i'm reliable.

just an offer...

'Outrageous' hardly covers it...it seems as if it would less expensive just to pop over and pick them up on a free weekend

And here I was being annoyed over the 'service fees' they tack on in the US...thanks for the perspective 8)
