Come on, it wasn't the Duchess in the dark dark days of long ago....
Renamed to "The Duchess of York" in 1986 to commemorate the wedding of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, I believe.

Not quite mate.
The place was known as the Robin Hood for many years and it was a pretty dodgy place to be honest. The name changed in 1985/6 to the Marquee. This name didn't last long 'cos a certain venue in London threatened to sue and it became 'The Pub With No Name' for maybe a year. John Smiths then changed the name to The Duchess Of York after that.
