I didn't vote in this election because I refuse to be forced into voting against my (working) class for the least of three or more evils.

But Socialist definately although my best friend will not consider anything less than the total overthrowing of the capitalist state.

Even if I were old enough to vote, I'd end up not feeling knowledgable enough about politics to vote. I like to call myself "moderate," but my views change from day to day. Ehh.

Aww bless, it's not an age thingy. You can learn politics & of course your points of view with change day to day, you are still young so let your mind feed you knowledge. Learn and grow and learn and grow.

the answer is to educate yourself in run up to election then.

VOTE. there's no good enough excuse for not voting.

If you were old enough to vote LEARN about your world/country/politics, being young isn't an excuse to be ignorant.

Yeah, I don't plan on sitting out on politics, when the time for me to cast my vote comes around-- It'll just come with time, I guess. Time, and actually being involved with the real world. :/

The excuse is...my choice not to vote. My choice.

There is no difference between the three main parties on the issues that I think are important, that I want to change.

Again I do not see why I should vote for a party I absolutely do not believe in.

I'm glad so many of you appear to have heeded my call to vote several weeks ago. :P

As to the rest - ignorance and apathy are no excuse!

I'm about to go down and watch the results, and have the kind of feeling I imagine must overtake someone when they're sitting in the dentist's waiting room, about to undergo some root canal work. However, I still cling desperately to a sliver of hope, due to the fact that I do not know ANYONE who is voting Tory (to my knowledge). But I think that's just the company I keep, plus the Scottish factor.

We shall see.

An earnest post James  I've gone all dizzy.

I am not politically apathetic. I really do care about politics and that is why I would not vote for what is on offer. One of things that most depresses me is listening to people around me genuinely debate such and such's policies knowing that the only thing that will matter tomorrow and the day after is protecting big business and it's friends at the expense of working people, their public services and their education. While of course the blame is always at our door for eating to much, smoking to much, drinking to much and going aray on a life of crime. Who sells glossy and expensve mtv lifestyles to teenagers on council estates brought up with no wider view of life then their own family who in turn had no wider knowledge of life? Oh Rupert Murdoch and his ilk. Keep them dreaming and hypnotised by the tv we can always buy a nice expensive home security system.

Grew up in and run away from council estates and now sick, and I mean sick to death of watching some smug middle class pr**k using the ills they helped create there as a reason that they should be in power because of there latest ideology free 'scheme'.

When and how we can get to real issues being addressed in the political system is something I think about a lot but certainly do not have the confidence to think out loud on here.

I know I've articulated myself really badly and know doubt you'll point out all the holes in my opinion. But (and not to deflect your anger, feel free) it is really difficult (for me anyway) to debate politics (especially in print) without the confidence or knowledge that a full education gives you. Something that as an adult I am working hard to correct.

Anyway that's what I think.

Oh, I disagree. I'd prefer that the ignorant don't vote. In fact, I'd be in favor of requiring a test of some sort. Maybe proof of some kind that the prospective voter actually understands the law of the land (something like a brief exam on the US Constitution for American voters, for example).

WORD! :notworthy:

Managed to drag Luke out to vote with the 'People died so you can do this' line:

'Even if you just write BOLLOCKS on the paper, you've taken the hard fought for opportunity to express your opinion'.

I suspect he voted BNP, but that's his right. They do have the best uniforms after all.

Bollocks

It's not perfect-deal.

Not voting is just wank, it's got f**k and all to do with Murdoch, ilk or otherwise.

Your attempt to sum everything up as an 'us and them' is patronising (least to me).

I'd still buy you a pint mind.

I keep hearing people died for my right to vote. I'd be interested to know who that was exactly? I mean which war or battle this was..
