If you were old enough to vote LEARN about your world/country/politics, being young isn't an excuse to be ignorant.

There is no difference between the three main parties on the issues that I think are important, that I want to change.

Again I do not see why I should vote for a party I absolutely do not believe in.

I'm about to go down and watch the results, and have the kind of feeling I imagine must overtake someone when they're sitting in the dentist's waiting room, about to undergo some root canal work. However, I still cling desperately to a sliver of hope, due to the fact that I do not know ANYONE who is voting Tory (to my knowledge). But I think that's just the company I keep, plus the Scottish factor.

I am not politically apathetic. I really do care about politics and that is why I would not vote for what is on offer. One of things that most depresses me is listening to people around me genuinely debate such and such's policies knowing that the only thing that will matter tomorrow and the day after is protecting big business and it's friends at the expense of working people, their public services and their education. While of course the blame is always at our door for eating to much, smoking to much, drinking to much and going aray on a life of crime. Who sells glossy and expensve mtv lifestyles to teenagers on council estates brought up with no wider view of life then their own family who in turn had no wider knowledge of life? Oh Rupert Murdoch and his ilk. Keep them dreaming and hypnotised by the tv we can always buy a nice expensive home security system.

Grew up in and run away from council estates and now sick, and I mean sick to death of watching some smug middle class pr**k using the ills they helped create there as a reason that they should be in power because of there latest ideology free 'scheme'.

When and how we can get to real issues being addressed in the political system is something I think about a lot but certainly do not have the confidence to think out loud on here.

I know I've articulated myself really badly and know doubt you'll point out all the holes in my opinion. But (and not to deflect your anger, feel free) it is really difficult (for me anyway) to debate politics (especially in print) without the confidence or knowledge that a full education gives you. Something that as an adult I am working hard to correct.

Anyway that's what I think.

Oh, I disagree. I'd prefer that the ignorant don't vote. In fact, I'd be in favor of requiring a test of some sort. Maybe proof of some kind that the prospective voter actually understands the law of the land (something like a brief exam on the US Constitution for American voters, for example).
