Definitely do
But these are Germans, they do this sort of thing too seriously

I did try and buy a ceedee by them earlier with mainly King and Klang (I think it involved hitting on a air plane engine - which is cool in concept but not superb to listen too) and was put off listening to EN for quite some time after. That was until I found out about most albums described above
And to think you're off to see Lou Reed's Metal Machine Music and you've not heard the album
No interest in the album at all, but the gig was ace

Errr.. depends what your tolerance is of metal and silly things..
Strategies Against Architecture II & III will give a good overview of the later period of their work, which is slightly less clangy... Halber Mensch is probably their opus with regards to screeching metal and the video of the album is a classic if only for the rendition of Det Tod Ist Ein Dandy replete with Mufti battering the proverbial schiesse out of a sizable block of metal out of rhythm..
nah, Tabula Rasa, Grunsteuck, Ende Eneu and Haus Der Luge are where to start.. (Haus Der Luge is a bit weak I think, but the title track is one of the best pieces of song writing ever.. period..)
If you fancy a challenge though get this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unglaublicher_Laerm
and get the Adrian Sherwood remix of Yu-Gang.. dub industrial classic..

i've managed to, ahem,
source copies of Halber Mensch, Haus Der Lüge, Tabula Rasa & Ende Neu, and shall give them a whirl at some point today...
listen out for the screams
thanks for the pointers everyone

@
James. Good call! some early SPK wouldn't hurt.

i'm 3 tracks into 'halber mensch' and liking it so far
not easy listening by any means, but it's surprisingly tuneful, and i'm loving the big fat beats

Whatever else, don't read HP Lovecraft while you're listening to them. Did that once and was ill for a week after.

well that album was pretty cool
just starting 'tabula rasa' now... i already have the track 'blume' and 'die interimsliebenden' on compilation cds somewhere, so i have a vague idea of what that will sounds like... it sounds not unlike pankow's 'treue hunde' album, from what i remember

I saw an article on Portishead years ago in Mojo or something (yes I used to buy that
) which was titled "Uneasy Listening"

I have the Neubauten symbol engraved in my wedding ring, what's that for a fan?
Personally I like the early work best, and dislike the last two albums.
Halber Mensch is one of my favorites as well, but Ende Neu is probably a better place to start.....and there's also the live album at the AB from I think 2001, which is very good and gives a good idea about the different works of the band

ouch, the metal machine trio is bollocks anyway, and I AM fan of the album

You wouldn't have to bludgeon me
Boudicca, I genuinely admire them too!
To be fair I haven't really been listening to later Neubauten albums much, early "difficult listening"
is my cup of tea, but that's just me.
I would take the songs Seele Brennt and Feurio if I had just two songs to persuade
Quiff of the Neubauten. And if he had the nerve to listen to a whole mix tape, I would probably choose from the first albums:
Kollaps
- Tanz Debil
Kollaps
Sehnsucht
Zeichnungen des Patienten OT
- Abfackeln!
Zeichnungen des Patienten O.T.
Armenia
Halber Mensch
the whole album, but especially the sad pieces:
- Seele Brennt
Sehnsucht (zitternd)
Fünf auf der...
Haus der Lüge
their masterpiece in my eyes, in particular
- Feurio
Ein Stuhl in der Hölle
Fiat Lux/Maifestspiele
Schwindel
Der Kuss

i'm liking what i've heard os far, but there definitely a few tracks that i'd remove from any playlists
i have Tanz Debil on a compilation somewhere. it's very cool
i think i've got/heard Seele Brennt & Feurio on the 4 albums i've tracked down, but havent listened to them on their own - only as par of an album.
will go back and have a listen of those 2 on their own
ta for all the advice

Heehee, which ones do you want to remove?
Something I've always wanted to know - how do they sound when you don't understand the lyrics? Completely beknackt?!

by Quiff Boy
the combination of voice & accent makes it rather, ummm,
sinister, but cool in an abstract, germanian goff kinda way
like how kraftwerk lyrics didnt sound as good when they did them in english and you realised they were a bit twee

"a bit" twee?
Neubauten lyrics are great though. A bit arrogant at times, but oh well, there are deadlier sins
