I've got one of Blast's gangwar boots, and it's what got me into the band. It's fookin' hard. No Leamington spa, but a worthy second.

Many on this forum are excited by the Sisters for the first time in many years, and while you are in no way oblidged to feel the same, this constant berating of others by yourself is begining to wear a little thin.
In fairness, today's ensemble isn't the one that many of us fell in love with.
Mr E's voice has lost most of the malevolence it had & the sets are, by & large, predictable.
However, this latest batch of shows has indeed brought some very welcome surprises. Just wish they'd do that more often.
I was fortunate to hear many of the 2009 recordings &, for whatever reason, there was something just not quite right (many people on this forum will regale stories of too quiet & can't hear Eldritch) But I went to the rescheduled Budapest show & they were
back. Voice ripped me up & it was louder than bombs.
I still get a buzz from seeing them. They are my favourite band in the world (contrary to popular belief) after all. They're just different now.
Try listening to Marian from, say, OGWT 1985 & then one of the recent versions.
To each, their own methinks. But that's a whole new thread really.
Still love 'em though.

Revr'nd
it's just not
my The Sisters Of Mercy anymore, and I did explain myself (at some length) on
_emma_'s
pelmet thread, my comments are not knee jerk reactions, I just don't like 'The Andrew Eldritch Combo' and I do feel cheated and let down - I'll let go now

I think I know what you mean mr.Blast.The first time I listened to the Sisters was in 1995,it was the R.A.Hall video back in 1985.I felt the dark energy and everything, today it's just different.Sometimes it's still good though.

as a peace offering,I also have one of James Gangwar bootlegs.First got into The Performance when I heard "Texas" on my local radio station (radio trent in Nottingham before it became a corporate radio puppet) back in the 80's.Got the 12" along with "Mexico Sundown Blues" on 12" as well.It seemed to fill the gap after the Sisters originally diintegrated back in 85 until the release of This Corrosion.

There is no war here, we are all on the same side.
It's just that we all defend our side of the story, you (and others) are right, ye ken whaur I stand, but I keep hoping for a glimpse of the wonderment that hooked me back in the 80s. It never comes.
there's nothing left but faith
can you now see my disappointment?

I attended two shows in the 80s (Detmold '84 and RAH) and they were fecking brilliant - although, back in '85 remembering Detmold I didn't find RAH so brilliant and afterwards it was never such brilliant.
However, having been to Mera Luna and listening to songs like Marian, NTTC and Rain from from heaven, it reminds me back to the old days. The Sisters in 2010 really sounded like the band I fall in love with and ever will be for the first time since '85
But as you say, everbody may have it own thought about this...

Of course, it was often that I felt the same, especially when issue of a new studio recording was (and is) in question. Hopefully things are changing and will change even more - and if not than another larger dissapointment looms ahead.
Sometimes I like to give Mr. E some credits.

Were you wearing your traditional Mera Luna shorts?

The shorts were retired with honour, I still have the shirt though. I may even have some photo's of your good self wearing a ridiculous hat.
Didn't go this year, is the Caipirinha bar still there?
I hope so
