diane birch

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

microtony are you part of Diane Birch's management?

But seriously, I liked it. I don't really understand the more... vehement reactions. :|

*Edit: I'm not sure I believe that the band gave her permission (she doesn't need the band's permission)

The covers are quite good, but it's a sport around here to off every single attempt at tampering with Sisters songs, apart from HL member versions! :|

They are as Mark says, quite groovy, although I am not a fan of the Gospel Choir in the background. Just dub your voice twice and that's enough.

Best of luck!

yup, having played her version of TC twice I'm gonna place myself in the for-camp (so that's a good 2000 points extra!) ;D

I'm not saying this a superb cover (Lambchop's versions is, but that's even better than the original), but played very well and she does her thing with it and that's what coverversions should be about surely. Okay, it's a bit tacky and all, but the original is completely over the top too...

You go girl!

I think the problem is that it doesn't get into the soul of the songs, hence my painting with numbers comment. This I think especially applies to Dancing Horses, which if I recall was an attempt to copy the Stranglers Skin Deep anyhow. I don't think the songs become her own enough if that makes sense. Though it's true that at least it ain't another po-faced goth tribute. Am not North Korea in my dislike more Derry with a hangover! ;D

Although preferable to a lot of the covers that crop up here.
I define "like it" as something that I would download or even contemplate buying, certainly something that bears repeated listenings, this does not. Therefore it is a no. Not that I have many votes - Andorra in the UN Council

i just got beaten to death by a sisters of mercy chat forum. apparently i should stick to justin beiber covers. hilarious ( :notworthy:  )
The girl has a MySpace page, and is neither Scottish nor Belgian - three reasons right there to spurn her as one would spurn a rabid dog.

Yep.
A self-described “Goth, Birch spent her teens cloaked in black, sitting alone in her bedroom listening to bands like Sisters of Mercy, Peter Murphy, and Echo & The Bunnymen — all of which appear on the upcoming collab, The Velveteen Age.
