Bands that should have been s**t by their name but weren't

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

Good thing their name doesn't matter one bit as I've been blown away completely by their sound...

Kruder und Dorfmeister - sounds like an Austrian dairy product, but they are just really really good :notworthy:
Actually the name is SO cheesy that it's already good again.

Not exactly a band, but Lady Gaga. Dumb name, looks like a mini drag act, and I was sick to death of hearing about her before I ever heard a song. Was surprised to find them rather catchy! The video for "Alejandro" still confuses me somewhat though. I was expecting something like "La Isla Bonita", and got Nazi's in suspenders and thighboots. With salad bowl haircut. Very bemusing..
The Waterboys
The Sweet
Bauhaus(just sounded pretentious wankery. And that god awful song about fishcakes actually WAS, but most of it was pretty top-notch.)
Christian Death( sounded like bad death metal to me. And yes, I think Valor Kand HAS done some good stuff. People forget that Rozz Williams went beyond anyone in pretentious prickery during the last few years of his life)
Adam and the Ants (And no, I don't like his punk stuff. Yes I do think "Stand and Deliver" was the best song he ever did. Bite me.)

The Nazis in suspenders image is borrowed from Madonna's "Justify my Love" video, and Madonna got it from "The night porter", a 70s movie with strange Nazi sex orgys.

With Dirk Bogarde and Charlotte Rampling? I think I did see some of that, but switched off when someone started doing gay nude ballet dancing or something!
But anyhoo, the video has no connection to the song..nice sort of Latin feel and then..yeah. Bit of a misfire by Her Ladyboyship there, I think.=/

Yup that one
Oh, you're right, the gay nude nazi ballet - I had forgotten about that ;D
I'm not a Gaga fan anyway, neither anything Latin, so sounds like a terrifying combination to me, sorry to say
